That's what came on my '04 but you have to remember I bought mine used. It's easy enough to tell, it's stamped on the sprocket and easy to see if you simply pull the cover. I do have to say there are times I miss that hooligan-off-the-line moment with the 17 but for me the 18 is more comfortable for cruising. Truthfully, I haven't really noticed much difference between the two going up and down the mountains but maybe I like to wind it out going up hill more than most
