I put 5 small rubber pieces behind the 5 sections of the original cush drive a few thousands of miles ago. Still just like a new bike. Cost was $4.

I fixed mine a few weeks ago. Used 5 strips from a rubber molding that goes on a wall, just above the flooring. Less tha 1/8 inch play, at most. Feels like a new bike, with no slop. Makes every gear shift perfect.

I got about 5,000 miles on them now. Still as good as the day I done it.
