Breaking in isn't much of a big deal on theses bikes. You jusnt dont want to run at constant RPM for long periods. You want to vary your RPMs as much as possible and the break-in period is only 500 miles.
I am not so sure the power difference between the Tiger and Speedmaster is much of an issue, you have to remember that it is a completely different kind of bike, plus numbers are decieving. You wont have much problem keeping up with anyone.
