Greg, the geezers are taking the scenic route. I have to check on the work schedule, and we will figure it out. Of course, I am jealous of those geezers and hope I am with them the entire trip...

OK! HERE Is the proposed ride map for Fridays ride... We will ride through back roads and historic NH towns and villages, as we make our way west to the lower end of the Green/White Mountains...to those used to (or expecting) GA type roads in the Greens/Whites...Sorry there is only ONE GA and it's not up north here...The Green/Whites will feature long sweepers and quiet (hopefully) back country roads...These are some of the oldest Mountains in New England...Time and Glaciers have worn these mountains down...Monadnock is unique, as it stands alone compared to it's surrounding landscape (thus the term monadnock) The top has been scrubbed totally clean of all soil and vegetation giving the impression of a tree line (yet it is below the elevation needed to form a tree line)A combination of fire and harsh weather has left nothing but a bald top. Several stops along the way are scheduled for some classic New England "must sees" Lunch will be in the historic city of Keene...an odd mix of Historic surroundings and modern culture (college town)...there are many fine brew houses and pubs as well as most "chain" type establishments...I will be riding this route soon to see if the roads are still in shape after the several harsh winters here...as well as scouting out fuel and "photo op" sites... As always this is subject to change...but for now this is the plan....200 miles and 5.5 hours (with no stops) Enjoy! Map Icons provide Pics, or links or both

Southern contingent route plans: "Geezer" section Rolling from Dahlonega on Sunday headed to the east coast. We'll find lots of water somewhere around Virginia Beach and turn north following the coastline to Maine... figure that'll take a few days, then we'll turn back south so we should arrive ready to rally on Thursday.. or ready to rest.. or sleep.. get a butt transplant.. but it should be on Thursday. This is just a plan.. well, more of a suggestion or idea perhaps. And the course or plan could also change depending my prostate or the weather... and me getting my motorcycle engine back together. So.. from here I go.. eye on the horizon, my goal to reach the northernmost state on the east coast... Maine is the northernmost state isn't it? Suck to find out it wasn't after you'd ridden all that way wouldn't it? Okay MapMakerMoe.. work some magic and plot our course.. to boldly go where.. I.. have never gone before... Deep into yankee territory amongst all them funny talking people.

I did me some sweet Maine riding yesterday. I planned on heading all the way out to Eastport, ME and spending the night there but cheated when I hit up an ATM and found out I only had $28 left in my bank account. So I decided to hit I-95 and high-tail it home. Got home around 1:00 AM...long day, but would do it again today if I could. I'm pretty sure that was the route I took though...much of the roads above Moosehead lake are semi-paved or pure dirt and unnamed. I probably hit 75-100 miles of dirt all day...man, I love Maine!

Jeeez.. lack of fundage puts a damper on a road trip huh? I figured if I'm going on a run up the coast I might as well go another couple of hundred just to say I've been there. Lotsa miles man..

Yes, those are one of my favorite roadside delicacies. The best I have ever had was at a place called Miller's in the Midcoast area. Moe, all the drawn butter you can drizzle and eat!!!!!

On a side note, I was reminded over the last weekend that I know someone who owns a biker bar and campground in Kennebunk. Hmmmmmmmm...

And possbily crawling with Secert Service memebers which means traffic jams.
I went RT 2 from West Adams Mass into Keene the other day. I had the car, but man what a ride that would be. Nothing like mutiple hair pin turns. Just wish those darn NY drivers would learn to speed like the rest of us.

I forwarded your route recommendation to Chy already! Nice! The Bay Bridge will have two pre-fires rolling on her the first part of August. Can anybody find the bridge?

As a matter of fact my route has you running up the coastal (RT 1) right into Rehoboth Beach
It USED to be a pretty route...but it may be all over built and traffic light ladden now!
Rob (larkfarms) might be able to shed some light

Hey I don't make the List? Or did you forget where I live? On a random note is there going to be a lowered triumph there? I would like to put Cathy on one so she could try it out. She has been in new bike mode this year, and I'm not too big on the HD Low Rider idea or cost.

I don't know whether Charlie will bring his speedy or sprint, but if he brings his speedy, I think he has lowered rear shocks.

Na, I'm a half hour from the coast. Close enough to enjoy the ocean, far enough away to miss the big wave. RB is a fun town, gotta have a couple Dogfish Head brews and stay out of the bath houses. Dill my bike is lowered and I'm takin the prison seat off and putting the stocker back on so you should be able to get a pretty good idea.
