Dwight will post an after rally report. Fabulous time. Special thanks to Dwight and Judy, as usual the perfect hosts. Big effort on the part of Becky arranging a great road trip yesterday. Fast Eddy with all his cool stuff! whoohooo new bling bought on the spot!! Oh! Official Triumph riders from England were there. We were certified as a Triumph event worthy of the brand! The world famous Funkletrumpet team was a joy to be around. Thank you, for visiting with us. Psst. they talk kinda funny though. Special thanks to Bonnevilleamerica.com for sending FJ to moderate the meet. The longest distance rider to attend. Marking my calendar for next year right now.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

I'll second Ron's report. It was a great time. Nice to be able to put faces with names. Dwight, I can't thank you enough for your hospitality. I hope everyone has a good trip back home. As the closest attendee, only 115 miles from Prescott, it was over far too soon. I will definately attend next year. Dan

Agree with both, it was nice to meet everyone on Friday, I would have been back Friday night but lost my voice, I think I was loosing it at Dwight's in the afternoon, went home and BANG, it was gone. It is still gone, (and I can not find it). So my wife and I decide not to exposed everyone to this... whatever it is.
Dwight, you and Judy ARE GREAT HOSTS, sorry I missed the ride Sat. I will be there next year for ALL OF IT..
Next time your in Prescott let me know. Would love to get together, smoke some cigars and drink some beer.
Lets see some pics from the Canyon

Was a GREAT weekend. And Dan ... hate to break it to you, but I am only 102 miles away (that was the long way home). FriarJohn won the longest ride, beating out SATXRON by about 60 miles I believe. Awsome weekend guys!!!! We must do this again next year - despite what Dwight said about this being the "last" SWTF. I will do a report later, but gotta go find some dinner. Becky

Just rolled into home. What a great time we had!!! Thanks to Dwight and his charming wife Judie for their hospitality. Great to meet FT(H) and Wenster. Eddy and family,Dan B, Bob and Amy, as well as the others.
Jeff, I unpacked my bag and your voice was in the bottom.
Now for a shower, beer, and bed...maybe a beer, shower, beer, and bed. Yeah, that's better.

Yup Becky, I didn't stop to think about you being from "out of town". (Darn valley people lumping everyone north of Black Canyon City into one group) Jeffrey, I didn't think about you since you were gone by the time I showed up. Sorry I missed meeting you and your wife. Hope you get to feeling better soon. I can claim to be the youngest of the riders (according to Friar John). So I guess it was the exuberance of youth. Dan

Team FeS just pulled into some place in Nevada! Not really! We are in Grant New Mexico just stopped for the night 9:00 PM Local time. Put on 375 miles today with a stop at the petrified forrest and the painted dessert. Took some time to enjoy the site, still retired early for Judy's sake. Realized today we hvae been driving everyday since we left on Tuesday!
What an incredible journey in Arizona, I had no clue there was soooo much awesome sites and riding! Incredible. Becky and Ron did an incredible job with the routes, Ron and Amy Lee God bless them allowed me the honor and priveledge to ride their bikes since I was without.
Dwight, much shorter in person, here all this time I thought you were 7 foot tall, heck, just a 6.5 little shaver! Echo the sentiments expressed, great and wonderful hosts and meeting everyone continues to confirm teh folks on this site are just as real in person as on the site. Great and wonderful folks.
All ya'll thank you for a wonderful time., FT and Wen, totally awesome to meet you all too!

I really wanted to be there Friday night, I missed meeting several folks. Your not to far away, we should ride some time.. As for age, how many besides me are current members of AARP? jeff

Just made Pueblo, CO. On schedule for two more light days (8 hours) for Jude, stopped in Santa Fe for a couple hours, choose the 25 north route to enjoy something different, man, New Mexico sure is different in teh mountains and high plains. The South West continues to amaze me!
So..Santa Fe, law mandates you MUST build a house in tradtional adobe fashion and in one color! Now I loved the houses, and would love the style for my own home, but the governing authority dictating what your home is gonna look like? Just a bit out there for this norther boy! Slightly off topic, but part of the travel.

Get this...
I AM HOME!!!
A full day ahead of schedule. I think today was around 700 miles (UPDATE: dang, only 638 miles). Richfield, UT to East Helena.
Nothing else fell off my bike but a semi-truck blew a tire right in front of me, south of Salt Lake. That was ...um, exciting? Yeah, that's the word I'm looking for.
Anyway, I got to to Blackfoot, ID, around 4 and there was no way I was going to get a hotel room in Idaho Falls at 4:30, so I kept going and before I knew it, I was practically home. The last 60 miles or so was interesting. Lots of critters along the side of the road.
I would like to thank the academy for this achievement*, and the authors of "Shadow Divers," the book I listened to today.
* Yeah, yeah, I know I'm no iron butt. Sue me.

Robert & I pulled into the drive around 9:45pm. Just a little over 12hrs on the road. Thank you to whoever invented the air conditioner. The 116 degrees from Needles to Barstow would have been a killer. We had a great time meeting everyone that was able to attend. The ride was fantastic. Ditto to all the sentiments mentioned before. A Special thanks to Dwight & Judy, Derek & Linda, & Becky for the great dinners too. Looking forward to next year. AmyLee BTW: Anyone that would like a CD of the pictures we took just PM me with your address. I will be posting some the pics through Photobucket later.

Yep, Ron. The good Friar is either jokin' or he mis-understood that remark I made out on the patio about this year bein' the "last time" I drive 50 friggin' miles in my truck so I can supply some poor sucker a couple gallons o' gas whose caught out in the middle o' nowhere!!!!
(BTW folks...I'll be leaving for my SoCal residence today, and so tomorrow I'll have that final rally wrap-up for ya then)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

What was your mileage? I think you said 1100. According to Google maps, my route home, through Page, AZ, was 1,084 mi. If you punch in East Helena to Prescott and let it determine the route, it goes through Vegas (which is how I traveled down there) at 1,094. I'm not convinced I'm the longest rider.
The Google default route from San Antonio, though Tucson, to Prescott is 1,081 mi. If you skip Tucson for a more direct route, it's 1,054.
No matter how you slice it, I think we're about even.

Our GMC has great AC, it just didn't get great MPG. Of course we were towing a toyhauler weighing approx 7000lbs, against the wind, and climbing up hill. Got only 9.8 mpg. You would think that traveling from over 5000ft to less than 300ft it would be all down hill, but noooooo! How is your trip going Eddy? AmyLee

Got in last night about 22:30 Finished up 611 miles rolling through cool air under a full moon. Not a bad run for the Senior Geezer of the meet. Thanks to all involved for the hard work and a GREAT time. Pictures and snide comments to follow.

Belated Greetings to All:
Mike and I parted company in Grand Junction. Finally started cooling off, coming down Mack Grade, between the Colorado-Utah line and Grand Junction. Hottest part of the trip was the descent into Mexican Hat. Occasional winds, but not like last year.
A special thanks to Dwight for providing swag, technical advice and assistance, and comradarie. To Dwight and Judie for their hospitality, for preparing meals and drinks, providing a supply for linen for those who needed it, and risking depreciation on their home; and to Derek and Linda for their contributions of food and beverages. To others who also contributed, and not specifically mentioned, thank you very much!
UNSOLICITED COMMENT: I could be delicate about this, but then you wouldn't believe it's coming from me... If some of you all found yourself at home with a few extra bucks, it's probably because some of your food and beverage expenses were "offset" by the hospitality of the aforementioned persons, and possibly others whose (Dwight, am I right, or is it who's?) names I may have neglected to have mentioned, or have been ignorant of. As this year's festivities were a bit more "coming and going" throughout the weekend, nothing was mentioned about remuneration to our hosts and co-hosts. Just something you all might want to consider taking care of, as you feel appropriate to do.
Look forward to seeing you all, and anyone new who shows up? Welcome to the SWTF3... It's just around the corner.
Bob

Made it home yesterday, but was cooked to well done by the time I got there. It was good to meet some new people and see some of the same ones from last year. Nobody had any major problems with their bikes at the rally and it looks like everyone got home safely, which is always a good thing.
Thanks to Dwight and Judie for opening up their home to us Triumph hordes, and to Becky for bringing down the delicious Elk burgers we ate on Thursday. I hope everyone had a good time, and we'll see you next year.
For FastEddy...make that LostEddy, I have a special tribute for your Kansas adventure.
Carry on My Wayward Son
Carry on my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done driving thru Kansas Lay your weary head to rest at a motel in Meade Don't you cry no more
Once I rose above the noise and confusion from your cellphone call for directions Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion You were soaring ever higher But you flew too far off the interstate
Though my eyes could see you were still a blind man without a map Though my mind could think you were still a mad man for making that drive I hear the voices when I'm dreaming I can hear them say
Carry on my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done driving thru Kansas Lay your weary head to rest at a motel in Meade Don't you cry no more
Masquerading as a man with a reason Prescott is the event of the season And if I claim to be a wise man, well It surely means that I don't know
On a stormy sea of moving minivan Tossed about you're like a ship on the ocean You set a course for winds of fortune in Prescott But I hear the voices say
Carry on my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done driving thru Kansas Lay your weary head to rest at a motel in Meade Don't you cry no more
No! Carry on, you will always remember this trip Carry on, nothing equals the splendor of the Grand Canyon Now your life's no longer empty in Wisconsin Surely heaven waits for you

Derek, That song ROCKS! We just pulled into a town outside of Omaha, regestering just under 4000 miles on the OD Should make it home by tomorrow evening! 630 miles today, Denver was less than desirable slowed us down a bit. Nebraska is much greener than the previous 600 miles! eddy
