"The times they are a changin"
Ok I did it just returned home with a brand new Toyota Yaris. Got it for the OL, traded in my broken Ford Ranger that was runnin on 5 cylinders. So my days of pickup truck driving are over. I'll be taking the OL's Chevy Cavalier until I run that into the ground. Was going to get another truck either an S-10 or Tacoma but remembered the "New Car" promise I made the Mrs when she ok'd my America purchase.

Cool. How many MPG? I've been looking at the Prius and Honda, Civic Hybrid. I just can't handle $4.00 gas prices. I want to get something that's matches my TBA in MPG. Europeans have been driving small cars for years and from what I understand gas is $10 a gallon in England for an imperial gallon (1.2 US gallons). Americans are going to have to detach their egos from their transportation before anything changes here. Hey but we can keep the old classics for show.(I would love to get my hands on a 69 Roadrunner/Superbee or GTX) I will keep the old Explorer for hauling or towing stuff. The times they are indeed changing. Look a the price of bannanas.

I wont be able to give an honest milage report until the OL has put a few miles on it. Has an 11 gallon tank dealer filled it before we left. I told her to let me know when it gets down to half a tank.
According to Toyota she should get between 29 and 35 mpg. Guy I work with has one and has been driving it for about 4 months now. He says he gets close to 40.

I get between 35 - 40 MPG in my 1.5 Yaris T-Sport... the wife's 1.3 ltr got around 45 on a run and i suspect the 1.0 litre may yield better MPG... (our Yarii are/were 2001 models).
I'm 6'3" and love these li'l motors.... plenty of room for the driver - although you guys across the pond are used to such bigger vehicles - it might make you feel like you're in a side car ;-) The T-Sport sticks like ****** to a blanket on the twisties!
If at first you don't succeed....lower your standards!!

Model we got is the Yaris Liftback S. 1.5 the smaller 1.0 and 1.3 engines are not available in the US (at least not in my part of the US).
I took this one for a ride yesterday. I'm 6'0 weight in at 190. Plently of room behind the wheel for me.Getting in and out is no problem.Much easier than my sons Corolla. Its surprisily quick on take off and gets up to hyway speed nicely. It was filled up at dealers, Now has 47 miles on odomiter and the fuel gage has not moved. Handles good macphearson struts rack and pinion. Over stears a little but its been a long time since I've driven somthing that light so that could be me.
Three things I dont like. 1. fuel gage and odomiter are digital just dont trust those. 2. No center armrest. 3. Very annoyong beep beep feakin beep until you and passenger buckle seat belts.Wont stop until you do.
Other than that no complaints yet.
