Someone in the past suggested running some clear tubing for the intake back under the tank to keep dust out. You can get 1/4" tubing from home depot for like a dollar a foot... Taking the tank off is real simple. I think there's instructions in the tech vault, certainly been explained many times. Also REALLY good way to get familiar with the bike.
