Falling trees, flying turkeys, moose, deer and now bears. Is nature more dangerous than other drivers?

I know a guy who hit a moose with his bike. He said it felt like he hit a furry brick wall.

Maybe you can lay the bike down and go under a moose. The turkeys scare me. I have been hit with a small bird while riding. A turkey would be like a bowling ball.

great story about how theres people taking care of bears...what about the rider? I dont hate animals but comon now! I live in a populated area...nice hill with lots of nice houses adn condos adn Ive been seeing deer for weeks now. They graze on the main drag in the morning. Ive also seen countless dead racoons on the roads this week. Its spring time and animals are coming out of hiding for food and that other thing they "do like they do on the Discovery channel". Have bears here all the time, went outside a couple nights ago and there was a momma and 2 cubs about 15' from me going through my trash. Deer and bears are something to watch out for in my area, I would hate to hit either one.

I was thinking the same thing...theres no information about the rider at all. Whats that about?
I thought it was funny how they were saying that "without the mother the cubs wouldnt know to stay away from cars" well it seems the mother wasnt the brightest crayon in the box either..haha...she mustve been on her cellphone when that motorcycle came outta nowhere..ahha

We are starting to get more and more reports of bears in CT, Moose are still pretty rare. State is over run with deer, turkey and coyote.
A lady I know caught a turkey in the windshield of her car a couple years ago. Luckily for her if hit on the passenger side and she did not wreck.Funny thing is she's one of those anti hunting save the furry little creatures types. Hmmm wonder if her attitude has changed any.
Neighbor told me he saw a coyote run through my back yard last week.(that could explain why one of the OL's cats has gone missing).
Guy down the street says he's not putting in a vegitable garden this year, Because the various critters (racoons mostly) wake him up at night ravaging it.
Seems not many poeple around here hunt anymore (its just not PC) and the ones that do cant hit the side of a freaking barn.
Folks have forgotten that there was a reason our forefathers wiped out most of the wildlife around here.

If we do not own bear proof trash cans it is a $500.00 fine. Cans can only be outside on pick up day from 6 am to 8 pm. Rest of the time inside. They took away spring bear hunts now the town is over run with them.

As an aside we hosted a 6th grade youth environmental education camp at a USFS guard station 33 miles up the Thompson River the last two days. This morning over coffee & pancakes I was talking to our local Wildlife biologist. As you may have heard, timber wolves were re-introduced in the northern Rockies ecosystem a number of years ago.
The wolf population has done quite well and they were recently delisted from "threatened" status, and more recently management was returned to the state (Montana). This has been politicized to death, but there is room for both. Fortunately calmer heads representing various positions have found some common ground. Most ranchers I know are not against the wolfe perse', but only seek options when one starts to prey on their cattle. The defenders agree that in the big picture for the good of the species, problemmatic animals need to be dealt with. When this occurs a state hunter quietly removes the offender from the population.
Wiht the change in status & expanding populations, a limited wolf hunt has been now been proposed. Basically "x" number of wolves could be harvested and when the quota is reached the hunt is over. This decision is in the hands of the Federal judge at this time.

Not if its on the endangered list, If so it has more rights than you do. I think you can leagaly shoot it if it has eaten at least 3 of your domestic animals and one of your children.
