My wife has sat on both. Our America had the original pillion which I replaced for the the new 07+ version. Hands down, the new one is the most comfortable of available Triumph seats. It's wider at the rear and narrower at the front and sits up a little higher. The new pillion with the tall sissy bar is about the most comfortable set up for these bikes short of any third party options.

My wife could not agree more.Changed my 2006 to a 2007 and she is much happier.
