That is some mighty good information, and thanks also for the link to the Easy Brackets!!

You've set my mind at ease...looks like anything I'd be willing to try on a motorcycle the America will do with no problem....I'm convinced.

I agree about the windshield and the floorboards. I've been looking at the National Cycle Switchblade system...you install the mounting brackets and then you can get different types of windshields for different uses....tall for touring, fat and wide for local, etc. Unfortunately, I don't think they make a set up for the America.

Those Tsukayu bags look great...I'm going to check out the Mutazus as well..here's a link: http://www.mutazu.com/

Thanks once again for all the great information...sorry about posting in the wrong place...I'll do better next time...

J-Bob

Thanks to all for your information...you've been very helpful.

Made regular trips to see my Grandfather in West Texas when he was alive....it was a 875 mile trip one way...would (and did) choose the bonnie over my then Yamaha Venture or my Trophy ( a sport-touring Triumph).... the Bonnie-A is comfortable and great for touring...IMO

You can tour on anything you want to. I read about a guy that toured the U.S.A. on a Whizzer.

You could use a Vespa if you want.
Depends on what you're after.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

If touring is your main objective, get something designed for it.
Plenty of great touring and sport touring bikes out there.

Ah ... Ted Simon ... one of my heroes and inspiration (when he finished his epic tour in '77, I got my first bike).
What few people know is that he did a similar round-the-world tour again in 2001 (this time on a BMW) at the age of 70 or 71!

Even moreso of a hero for me was Robert Edison Fulton Jr who made an incredible motorcycle journey (on a Douglas Twin) in ... believe it or not ... 1932!
