Eddy sells some decent very portable tool kits http://www.fasteddysports.com/?page_id=3&category=18. Very easy to throw in a backpack or saddle bag. Soren

I got the Cruz tools basic kit from Brent. It is good for minor or emergency jobs. The spark plug wrench included is not the right size for our plugs, though.

Advance Discount Auto Parts has a 75 piece set of 1/4" hex bits that includes metric allen, inch allen, torx, security torx (like on the tank badges), phillips and slotted. Its about $10. Comes in a plastic case. I use it every time I work on my bike. I carry that along with a screwdriver type bit holder and a 1/4" hex ratchet. No picture, but I think its this one.

I have the econokit that I put in my bags. It works for most small repairs. But Like PES said the spark plug wrench was the wrong size so I replaced it with the right one from Napa.

But seriously, what tools would you recommend specifically for our bikes if I was to gather them up from my shop. I'm going to try and prepare some for my trip down south at the end of the month.

Hex heads, 8, 10, 12, 13 mm socket/ or wrenches. I think they are Torx but the funky star types slots and square type bits for accessing your battery and taking off your seat.
Cresent, tape, spark plug wrench, should about cover it?

Add one 18mm for the spark plugs, add a length of clear tubing that'll fit over the tank vent nipple under the filler cap, and some zip ties, tire pressure gauge, cell phone. Then, with luck, you'll never need any of it.

What you want is what you may need if you are prepared to work on your sickle in the hot sun on the side of a dusty gravel road. (Cell phones are just the ticket.) above all K.I.S.S.
Carry spare fuses and vacuum caps. Bout the only thing you may need in addition to those items for road side repairs are the tools needed to remove the tank. And a dual screwdriver.
tip: Next time you wrench on your bike especially after you have just wrenched on it, are those tools you just used. Mark them with a bit of painters tape. Then grab them up next time you ride.
Highway trekking? Carry more tools. Spark plug change out, carb bowl removal, jet change. oil plug wrench, set of allen wrenches.
Really what can you fix past changing your plugs, replacing a fuse, cleaning lectric connections or cleaning your jets?

Good points. Thanks guys. I've got a fairly extensive tool kit built in to the "57", and I am pretty confident about making nearly any repairs to it. but the new TBA is kinda over my head in a lot of areas, so I'm a little paranoid about breakdowns on the road. Luckily, as most of us will attest to, they are reliable bikes. Still, Florida is a long way from Iowa, and I really appreciate the info I've learned on this site.

I also bring a can of Fix-a-flat on trips. You never know when you might pick up a nail and have to limp somehwere to get it fixed. Maybe also take a phone list of Triumph dealers near the major cities you will be passing through. I called Triumph of Little Rock on my way to GA. for advice.
