My neighbor across the street was a Ford dealer service underwriter for many years. He once told me that his philosophy was when it came to pickups that Fords had slightly stronger built frames, but that Chevys had much more reliable engines and drive trains.
For whatever it's worth, he owns a 2005 Chevy Silverado today.
