Don't you worry Ray, I wont make a basic schoolboy error like that again!

Besides if I did, the wife would give everyone there a fine display of how to remove my testicles with the remaining components of a tent.

I looked at the long range weather forecast and it looks as though we may have some good weather for this.

Paid, to date:

Graham(Stretcher)
Louis/Ben
Kev (+3)
Raymondo
Martin
Mark (+1. No, 2. 3. Erm, 4. No, plus 5...6? 7? 10?!!)

Still waiting on a few cheques...you know who you are!!!

Unfortuantely, from those who originally expressed an interest, a lot have dropped out for various reasons. There should be 20 people at least, plus, there are a couple of people joining us for the Saturday ride-out and a few others who're making there own provisions, including those in the B&B.

I'm going over there today to check out the site and take in a few roads, inc. the Cat and Fiddle.

If I've got anything wrong and your name's there and shouldn't be or should be but isn't, lemme know.

If you're coming into this late, there's still time to get your a**e down there and join in.

Any and everyone is welcome, regardless of steed. As always, non-Triumph's stay the obligatory 1/2 mile behind!!!
Besides, they may even see the light and trade in their Teutonic rides to something with a bit more soul-wouldn't be the first time it's happened!!!

Didn't get down there today as I had an appointment that lasted longer than I thought. I do hope to get there beforehand to reserve us a decent pitch and check out some of the local roads.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 24 Sep 2008 to Friday 3 Oct 2008:
High pressure looks set to dominate the weather throughout much of this period. There is just a hint that more unsettled weather could edge in as we go in to October. So the weather looks set to remain generally dry for the whole of the UK. There are likely to be subtle difference from time to time, maybe a little rain getting into Northern Scotland, or some showers getting into southern England at times, especially later in the period. The settled weather can bring it's own problems at this time of year with fog likely to form on some nights and be reluctant to clear by day. At least we should all see some pleasantly warm sunshine through this period.

I bought an integrated air mattress / pillow / sleeping bag from Dunelm. Just flick a switch on the battery driven air pump and kazam.... pure luxury!

Mind you, not sure the £7.99 tent from Tesco will be up to much

Hi William

we are suppost to be going out for a ride out, but heaven knows what is happening. You can always ring me Saturday on the mobile 07977151118 to see what if anything is happening. I know by the sounds of it the majority are not turning up until Saturday, so they will have a ride out later afternoon probably..... We'll see....

They call it "organised Chaos"...

I had a run up to the Cat and Fiddle on Sunday, along with a few (30 or so) members of another forum I'm on. Pics here and here and I found the Speedie's true natural habitat: forget cruising through town-centre streets or national speed limited roads: the roads around the Cat and Fiddle are where this bike thrives. Speed limit is a blanket 50mph and the hordes of cops out there ensure not many exceed that speed. So, one gear (2nd) is that's needed. Use the torque and the grip available due to the 270° crank configuration to fire out of corners and you've got the perfect recipe for the twisties. Where sports bikes owners were constantly swapping between gears and cursing that they couldn't go fast enough for their bikes to work, I was having a ball; hammer up to a corner, off the throttle, no need to brake as the engine took care of that and all I had to do was pick a line.

And the noise...

I'm still buzzing from it.

I met Sean and Jane at the pub that gives the road it's name and, also by coincidence, met Steve(Viking) and Pam (his wife) just outside the entrance to the campsite a bit later on. Spent about an hour at the site, talking to the owner and having a look round. We've shortlisted 2 areas of the site but, whilst one of them is ideal for us, it's a fair trek to toilets, etc. I'll leave it up to the first to arrive to choose.

Details: I'm not arriving til Sat am so for those arriving Friday, tell Edward or Marilyn that you're with the bonnevilleamerica group and they'll show you the areas we've earmarked.

I've only paid a deposit and I'll be paying the balance on the Saturday afternoon. If anyone turns up who hasn't paid, pay me and I'll sort it with owners. They only take cash so I only take cash.

Breakfasts: because there aren't as many people eating as first thought, it's been decided that the site owners will cook breakfast for us, rather than provide facilites for us to use. It'll be served between 9.30-10.00am.

Am I right in thinking that no-one has ordered a veggie breakfast?

I need to tell the site owners the final numbers for breakfasts by Wednesday, so they can get the stuff in. If you want brekkie but haven't told me, please do so now.

Now, the bad news: the nearest pub is 1 1/2 miles away.

That's not such a bad thing as it means you can stay sober, have a good kip then get up early and enjoy the roads around there some more. I'm thinking of going back tomorrow. I do believe I have an addiction!!!

Again, the site.

And to whet your (riding) appetite

More?

Pudding!!

I've also sounded out a few other roads round there but if you fancy chipping in with a route, please do.
