Just a thought......The campsite at the back of the Aidensfield Arms (Heartbeat country) Goatland. It has a bunk house and camping. He told us if there was enough of us then we could have our own rally field...its just an idea.

I'm gonna go and look at a site in Derbyshire next week (it was gonna be this weekend coming, but I thought the Bank Holiday was later than it was....) Some stunning roads round there and 20 minutes to Matlock to look at all the bikes that park up round there on a weekend. And is easy to trailer back to the parents if it packs up again!!!! Near a place called Crich if you're wondering. The camp site directory that I found it on says bike friendly too.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Derbyshire is good as it's pretty central for most, and means Ray might actually have to leave an hours radius of his house!!!

Oh and for the record I'm off the last 2 weekends of September, so they're looking good for me and won't cost me any leave!!!!

Not that Goathland wouldn't be a good choice - it's stunning round there too, but I spoke to a member down in London and he asked why is everything up north.... which TBH it normally is. So if we did Midlands we could say not everything is...

Derbyshire is nice, they also have nice ale in all the pubs.

Here's a youtube of one of my walks near Leek in Derbyshire. Some nice panoramas.

Having spent 20 years of my life up north, it's in the psyche to think that anywhere further than Derbyshire, is a bridge too far.

Yeah, but only just.

Just view it as gently gently....and eventually they'll make it further south.

North ???? anything below Gretna is all southern to us ....now us Jocks are the true Northerners.

Right, peeps, I've mailed a few sites and they're all happy to accommodate us so let me know when you're available.
The first 30 people to let me know when they're available and to send me some cash gets to choose their own pitch (subject to availability)!! :P

Incidentally, I'm not doing a Ray and bumping this up every 2 minutes. You're all adults, you don't need me to hold your hand!!!

This is copy of an email I received from one of the sites. Whadda ya think?

Dear Neill,

We'd be very happy to accommodate you if we can, Ed having been an enthusiastic biker himself in his younger days.

We can do any weekend in September except the 6th (the daughter gets married that weekend & the evening "do" is on site.)

We've only got capacity to cater for 6 breakfasts (in the B&B) I'm afraid.
However, we could provide you with a large BBQ & a power source if you wanted to do your own breakfasts.
We could provide the sausage, bacon & eggs (all locally produced), bread, butter, milk,
tea & coffee etc if you like.
We could even give you the use of a dry venue (i.e. our big brand new shed in which the aforementioned "do" will be taking place) if the weather is iffy.

The cost for camping is £5.00pppn. If you wanted the breakfast arrangement it would also be £5.00pp.

Regards...

http://www.shallowgrange.com/

My thoughts re. the breakfast. I'm quite sure that if enough were interested, we could have them do breakfast "to go", on disposable plates, etc.

Your thoughts?

Hmm....

Looks a really good place and they sound like really helpful people. The breakfast idea sounds like it could be a goer IMHO.
I just have one concern....according to the OS map fragment on their site, it seems the nearest pub is about a mile away!!!

And I'm still off the last 2 weekends of September...and like them I'm at a wedding (not mine) on 6th Sept.

I did not bump it up for that reason, the reason is for those people that are new to the site, so they could see what is going on... The thread is always burried in with the guys from the US and gets put down the page.

Any date in September is good for me also

That looks really good, i'm very impressed!

I don't think a mile to the pub is too excessive however it might be 2 miles on the way back to allow for wind conditions and "swayage".

I'm up for that place, most of September should be fine and the wife may come too as well on this one (she'll kick my a if I forget tentpoles this time though).

I did actually think the place was called "shallow grave" at first sight and that had me a tad worried.

Hi Neil, sounds ideal mate, im going to have to work out my holiday as ive got a few rallies planned this year and i should be working weekends in september, i will wait for you all to decide the dates then try to find a way round it..
maybe after everything is confirmed it might be worth asking a nice moderater on here if he can lock the thread on page 1 to stop all the bumping.....
Dave

Neill, either of last 2 weekends is better for me, but will need lots of notice to ensure I have it off.
