Its definately a good idea Ray. It's a chance for anyone that missed the Dent camp to party with us in september!!!

I'm sure it will be a success, where you thinking of holding it? (I don't really mind where, just curious as to the options)

P.S make it sunny

OK, it sounds like we have a little interest. I don't think it will be as big a turnout but you never know.

I presume everybody wants the same venue, if anybody wants further down South I will hand the organising to someone else as it makes it easier to live near where you are booking to finalise everything.

Your thoughts and ideas guys n girls, it will also just have to be a weekend which will stop a lot of people as they will not travel for one night. Say Friday and Saturday night, so this means people finishing work and then riding up. Hence the one night if they cannot make it after work..

How about somewhere in the Midlands? Shropshire, maybe? That said, looking at a map, Manchester/Sheffield appears to be central so how about the Peak District? Give everyone a chance to get there. Snake Pass, the feline and the theft, Matlock Bath, etc.

That sounds all right to me Neill, I presume you have somewhere in mind, looks like you just volunteered to organise it..

Aw, well. I've nowhere in mind but I'll do some scouting about. Might even go down beforehand to plan a route. The things I do for you lot, huh?!!

I know it's early to start thinking about such things, but is would anyone consider hiring a barn? This is the first place I saw, to give you an idea:

http://www.thorpe-bunk.co.uk/shippon.html

http://www.thorpe-bunk.co.uk/pondside.html

http://www.thorpe-bunk.co.uk/stables.html

Just throwing out options. No tent or cooking stuff to lug about. Just throw your sleeping bag on the back, turn up and party!!

A barn is good, but then you have the ones that like to be seperate, then they are the ones that snore..

Plus they tend to be on the small side, 13 people have expressed an interest upto now, so you can at least double it..

The bunk houses are just an option. Quite a few have camping in the grounds so that's another alternative.

Right, peeps. If you're coming, I need to know which dates you're available. Options:

w/e date (Fri/Sat)
1st : 5/6th
2nd : 12/13th
3rd : 19/20th
4th : 26/27th

Alternatively, there's August bank holiday which is the 23, 24 and 25th.

Let me know as soon as possible and there's a better chance of getting where we want. I can also arrange some decent weather, something Ray overlooked!!!

August would not be a good idea, as still school holidays.
The 12th and 13th are also out for me. But every other weekend in sept should be ok, as long as I have plenty of warning!!
Don't mind Peaks or Dent - still haven't been to Tan Hill, and it is to far for a one day ride!!!!

Thanks to Ray and everyone at dent for making Holly and I really welcome, we had a fantastic day and a great ride. 700 miles all in. With only a sticky throttle on the way back to trouble us.

I will be there in september for sure, but Holly will be back in australia already.

Martin.

I haven't looked at my roster yet - but it changes next week....the new one will be in work when I go in an hour...

However can I suggest that the start of September would be better, it can start to get a bit chilly towards the end.

I'm up for a meet around September time.

I would say that I would be slightly more inclined to go for the start of September rather than later on in the month.

As to where to hold it, I have no particular preference although the Dent site was great (especially the proximity of the pubs).

All I can say is, with the amount of people showing interest in another meet, it looks like everybody had a fantastic time at Dent despite the weather on the Sunday which cancelled out our ride. So if you missed out, time to put your name down and be counted...

Neill better make provisions for around 70 people

Looking at the dates you provided Neill I would say people are going for the 19/20th & 26/27th.

Your best bet is make a decision and then look at trying to get around 70 people booked in somewhere, they may also want a deposit so this means taking money off people..

Alternatively if you do not fancy the work load, we can always turn back up at Dent and take the money off people as they arrive. The decision is yours!!!

I've started a search for places but I'll let a few more express their preferred dates before making that decision.

Are you all happy to let me make the decision as to venue or would you rather me find 3 places and put it to a vote?

(I'm in favour of the latter. )

Hi, is it not the September Weekend on the 26/27th, hence a public holiday that weekend. It may allow more people to attend for more than the one night. It's certainly a public holiday up here in sometimes sunny Scotland.

No September bank holiday in England, although I'm sure there should be Last one until Xmas is the August one
Not sure whether I'll be definitely going yet so I'll not put in any preferences for dates or sites. Whatever you guys plan I'll do my best to try and wing it though!
