New member here, I'm in Nor Cal....Sacramento area. Just wondering what I should be paying for a new Speedmaster? Msrp is 8,299 + tax & setup.....what is a more realistic price I should be looking at? For those of you with 08's, what have you been looking at out the door? Thanks, hope to be a new Triumph owner soon

set up fee is a scam, dont pay for them to put a battery and oil in the bike, it should come with that already

Your best bet is to try to negotiate for accessories. The reason you see few (if any) ads for these bikes is because Triumph sells them as fast as they can make them. Because of this, few dealers are willing to discount the bikes. On the other hand, if they have an '07 leftover, you might be able to save 10 to 20% if you don't mind the color.

Is MSRP out the door reasonable? Could I do better? Or am I just dreaming?

That very much depends on the dealer but be aware the mark up isn't much so don't expect much off the price if any. Your best bet is to negotiate for accessories, like if you buy a Speedmaster but want America seat then see if they will swap one out for you things like that. Set up fee is a scam as stated above so don't fall for that. Maybe get them to throw in a set of pipes. There was a $1500 in accys promotion going on, not sure if it still is or not, check into that too. If it is then don't let them convince you they are doing you a favor by giving you that much. I know my dealer had no issues with swapping out seats on new bikes not sure what else he would do since I bought mine with 700 miles on it and it had some extras on it already and he cut me an unbelievable deal because I have known him and his parents for quite a few years years now.

Right now I believe they are offering $1000 in accessories. So I think that right there would hinder negoitating on extra accessories. But when all is said and done its the $$$. On new dirt bikes and quads the best I could ever do was the bike out the door for MSRP, so I was hoping the same would be true here. Only thing is my dealer is the only one around for like 50 miles, makes it a more difficult to pit them against each other.

The real issue is timing, spring is not the best time to get the best price, everyone has the fever in March/April/May. I dont think MSRP will be unreasonable, but I also dont think they will just hand it over for that price, so you may have to haggle, or just plain beg. Look around at used bikes if cost is a huge factor, there are a few of these bikes out there with low miles and extra goodies for great prices.

Always look at other stuff and ask questions about things you don't want, act interested in the bikes you don't want then ask about the one you do want but act uninterested, go back to something else then ask "well if I did want to make a deal what can you do for me?" But ask the same about the bikes you don't want first. If they won't seal leave and wait a few days or a week then come back. Wait long enough you don't seem over anxious but not so long they don't remember you. It's a game and you need a good poker face. I tend to get very good deals on things this way. All that being said you really do get a lot of motorcycle for the money. I have heard of quite a few going over 100,000 miles and still going. There are members here over 50,000 miles.

Buy a used one as your first choice. Let the first owner take the hit on depreciation. If you want new, print out the ads and take them with you. Tell him you still need to go see the used ones.
I think you can get it out the door with setup for 8k.

Keep in mind the price you will pay to buy the bike is just the price of admission. It is a shame to keep the bike stock when it is easily capable of being so much more. That is one reason why the $1k accessory deal is so great. Jump on it!

You can negotiate an 07 for around $7,500.00 and get $1,000.00 worth of accessories. Better hurry, the 07's are disappearing fast!! Just picked up mine today. Photo of bike on America vs Speedmaster thread. Good Luck! Joe
