P.S. On a further note. At home I use some rather expensive AKG's. So that may also skew my opinion of the sony earbuds.

This may be a stupid question but is there a helmet available with integrated speakers.
I know quite a few riders who use chatterboxes when riding in groups and it seems a bit cumbersome and unfriendly to have to clamp something onto your helmet when it would be so easy and safer to build the components into the helmet.

OK... back onto the original subject....
With noise canceling ear buds, how much noise really gets cancelled? Can you still hear the motor and traffic around you?

That's what I like about the little Sony earbuds. They don't cancel it all out... I can still hear a lot, just much much less wind noise etc. I also wear them mowing and weed whacking.

I think that is one of the reasons I really like mine too, I can still hear everything else that is going on.

The noise cancelling ones are too expensive to just try, especially if I dont like them because they cancel out too much noise.

Yeah I'd love to try some if someone had some to borrow, but I have a LONG list of $100 items that I want way before new headphones.

i just bought a pair of sennheiser noise canceling ear buds on amazon. i'll let you know how they pan out. sennheiser makes good cans, so i'm hoping that the buds are at least marginal. $40 on sale, from 90.
