I integrated an Ipod Shuffle into my helmet.
I took apart a pair of cheap on-the-ear (not over-the-ear) headphones, leaving just the speakers/wires and mounted them inside my helmet at the position of my ears. I stashed all of the wiring inside the rim of the lining, except the plug which runs out the bottom of the liner on the left side to where I mounted the shuffle with super-velcro on the outside of the helmet.
I didn't want any wires "connecting" my helmet to anything else. I can pop the shuffle off the helment and stick the plug back up in the liner if I'm not going to use it, or to charge / sync it.
Works great. I can hear the music well enough even over bubs, and I can still hear sirens, etc.
Hitting the tiny little buttons in my thicker gloves is a bit tricky. But with my thinner gloves it's no problem at all.
