Little question, big discussion. The only reason I asked the question is because motorcycling over here in blighty has become a little clicky, it seems in the majority of cases it not the fact you ride a bike its what sort you ride and cruisers are no different; you have harley riders and the rest. I started ridng in 1980 just off the back of the hugely popular motorcycling 70s and it didn't seem to matter then, yes you always have friendly rivalry and banter, you know "mines faster than yours" and all that but today even magazines write certain kinds of bike off because they don't do 150 or silly 0-60 times. I always thought riding a bike is supposed to be fun and the fraternaty that is motorcycling are all together with the thought of "lets ride" regardless what you riding, we all have our preferences but they are all bikes at the end of the day.
I ride cruisers because I wanted one the first time I saw a Harley back in the day (they were the only ones then) and this carried on even with the Jap customs of the late 70's early 80's(sad I know). I like to enjoy my ride see whats around and torque your out of corners, I also had an over a car experience when 17 that left me unable to bear weight on my right hand for lengthy periods so cruisers suit me perfectly.
Anyways its good to see a diverse crowd on here, very similar to the lot I left behind on Virago Tech, allsorts of folk with a "proper" common interest ...BIKES that just happen to be Triumphs!
And I'm still waiting on delivery for mine...
