Yep! "Rhett" and "Ricky" here have it right, alright!
Here's my "philosophy" about this, Ian...
Like yourself, I also wave at nearly every rider comin' the other way, and if they fail to wave back I either just assume that they may suffer from some sort of vision-impairment and thus must be vigorously concentrating on the road ahead, OR they know that they lack the ability to ride safely without both hands firmly planted upon their handlebars at all times, and so I just give 'em credit for acknowledging their own limitations and adjusting for such...and I give 'em a pass!
(yep...just like Eastwood said in "Magnum Force"..."A Man's gotta know his limitations!"
In other words, it doesn't matter much to me if folks like that wish to limit their "philosophy".
I just know whenever I'm astride my BA that I'm riding a machine that actually handles better than most all other brands in this particular category while having those classic good looks, that it's quality-built, and that it's purchase price is more than reasonable...and that's a win-win-win in my book anyday, dude!
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
