Just listed as the cheapest San Fransico Bay Area gas price. I paid $4.019 per gallon (middle grade)which is the highest so far for me. I have seen regular for $4.01 and i'm sure others in my area are paying more. Gary

Pretty big range in prices I think we have about 18cents per gallon in taxes. Our local refinery is only about 30 miles away but I think the raw stuff comes in by ship.

If you're talking about "premium" Cynthia, it's not the "best". (Search "octane" on the site here, we've had many discussions about it.) If you mean particular brands, well, that could be different.
3.65 here for 89 octane.

Ok Paul that's annoying me...let alone what the guys over the pond are paying... I paid £1.089 last week... and the garage on my way to work is nearer £1.109....and there's a refinery down the road.... Also I used to use super.... he runs better on that. Don't care what anyone else says, he did. Can't really afford to use that now - that's around £1.119...

There are a couple minor differences though Gina. Yeah, you guys over in Europe are paying a pretty penny for gas, BUT, have been doing so for a VERY long time, correct? This isn't something that has changed in your economy in say, the last 3 years. Our gas prices have basically changed almost 300% since 2003, whereas I can recall that on pretty much all of my trips to Germany since 1996, you guys have been paying a fairly high price per gallon, relatively speaking (at least $3-4 a gallon back when gas here was $1 a gallon). Also, due to the way our cities, towns and infrastructures have developed, we are much more dependant on a car for daily commuting, which is our own fault of course, since everything was developed around the idea of cheap gas and driving everywhere. Over there, you guys pay a lot per gallon, but a large chunk of the price/gallon is taxes, which have been invested in a fairly extensive public transit network. A good example is a guy I knew in Switzerland. He lived about 5-8 miles from work, out in the country in a family farmhouse in a small village. Until he took a temporary position in the US in 1998 or so, he had never driven a car (and he was about 40-42 at the time), the only motorized vehicle he had was a scooter. He would take that scooter, or walk or bicycle, down to a bus stop in the middle of the countryside, and catch a postal bus to and from work every day. With the exception of a small minority of people in the US, that's almost impossible in the United States. There are some progressive communities where some people do this, but the majority have to drive to work, because there is no safe way to bicycle there, and walking is equally unsafe (since it's along the side of a highway often) and usually too far. HAD our country invested likewise in public transit, where someone like me could hop a train and a bus to work when I wanted to, and a car was a nice option if I could afford it, I think you'd hear nothing but the chirping of crickets on these boards regarding gas prices. When you add on top of that, the rises in daily food prices (especially the basic stuff), then it's twice as bad. There are predictions (which I wholeheartedly believe) that we will never go backwards below $4 a gallon here, until we switch to an alternative fuel. It might drop slightly below that from time to time, but I really think we are here to stay, and so far, the trend has proven me right. We thought we would never go above $2 years ago, and we did, and dropped back down briefly, before climbing to $3 (which no one thought we could do), and there was again a short drop below $3 again, before climbing back up above $3 and now we're at $4. I might even speculate that we will see $5 and $6 a gallon within a year or 2, and some are speculating on $7 by 2012. We've seen similar things happen before where we poorly planned for things and made horribly wrong assumptions, and we've managed to turn things around when our backs really were against the wall (a very good example is the condition of our Army just prior to World War 1 and 2, where our Army was undermannned, underfunded and pretty much horribly neglected, because were weren't going to fight any more wars, and along came a crisis and BAM, almost overnight we had to build everything up from scratch, and it turned out ok for us) We need that kind of effort on a national level now! We shall see just how much further it is before our backs really are against the wall.

I always run BP/Amaco premium 93 octane 'white' gas. It never really goes bad and gunks up. I just paid $4.06 gal. in Satellite Bch. Fl. I think I may convert the bike to bio-diesel and run on old fryer oil.... :bent-over smiley: later, Tom.
But, what do I know?

A few days ago I saw $3.32 for 89 octane, but that was on base. Not sure what premium was. I'll find out soon enough though as I just cut to reserve yesterday.

Bounces all over the place in Central Il, but right now 87 (no ethanol) can be seen for upwards of $3.70, and 89 (10% ethanol) can be had for about a dime less on average. 91 goes for close to $4.

I filled my Toyota yesterday and had to leave my 16 year old daughter for them. She has to clean toilets and cook for 7 years and then I get her back. I hope the tanks of gas lasts that long. Last week I only had to leave my right arm and left leg to fill the bike.

Funny you should mention that Thanassis. I JUST finished my work on a batch of C-Stoff, and figured the safest way to test it was with a rocket. SO, I loaded up my Vergeltungswaffe2 (you can just abbreviate V2 if you want) with fuel, and fired it in the general direction of Greece so that you could see it for yourself... But, no worries, with the gyrocompass navigation system on it (sorry GPS is too expensive for my budget after the fuel laboratory!), there's a good chance it will miss the target in the center of Athtens by at least 300 meters...
And, by the way, who said I was griping. I was just stating that I was HAPPY to pay $1800 for a weeks worth of gas, and hope it will help my friends at ExxonMobil, who were a bit sad today. Apparently, their First Quarter earnings of $10.9 BILLION was great, but below what Wall St. expected, so their stock dropped 4 points! Poor guys!

BAAAAAANG! I think your rocket just landed in downtown Athens. Luckily I live 6 miles from the centre in a coastal suburb called Glyfada, so I am, at this time, unscathed. I only mention my town so that you will AVOID it on your next test. I also think that, following your test just now, ExxonMobil's share price will drop significantly. I am unloading my holdings in that company as of RIGHT NOW, while everyone is still confused about what just happened. Can I have European, Afican and ESPECIALLY Middle-East distribution rights for your new product? We're gonna need a catchy name for this product, I don't think V2 is going to cut it. You related to ole Werner or something?

Let's see, how did you spell that town? (I just want to get the coordinates right...) What, you don't think that people will flock to stations sellling Vergeltungsraketentreibstoffkomponente A/B/C? Why it just ROLLS off of the tongue... I just don't understand why German isn't considered a Romance Language, I mean how can you NOT be smooth when talking to a girl in German?

Well we cant be too overpriced we're only 12 people deep..ahah...we must be a bargain cause companies with that much loot dont like to spend it.
By the way i have all the floor plans of every building inside the refinery if anyone wants to help me rob the gasoline silo..if there is one...and i only live 20minutes away too
