Ok, thanks, folks. I'll check back for more suggestions, but I think Dog's suggestion about the lube is prob it. BrianT, the pistons seemed surprisingly clean when I pulled 'em apart, but I'll certainly take a look when i pull 'em apart to do the pins.
I'll also try to take some pix so y'all can see what I'm talking about.
