I should have my Triumph floorboards tomorrow. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions as to what to 'watch out' for? I know it's silly to ask because they come with directions but I'm excited. LOL

Piece of cake installation. The first thing I did when I got my bike and with no wrenching ability. Just get the bike off the ground and easier to reach. And don't get rid of your OEM parts. Don't ask....

When i installed mine took about 30-45 minutes, very straight forward, remove old pegs and you'll see how everything else just falls into place. i left the bike on its kickstand and got down to business. i like to use a dab of blue loctite on the nuts & bolts and a little white grease on the move'n bits. Just be careful installing the rubber foot pads~~gently tug on the nipples with pliers to seat them~~you'll know what i mean. Great improvement in comfort and IMO still makes bike look good

Tip. Spray the runner nips on the floorboards with silicon spray-when you grap them with a needle nose wiggle them quickly from side to side and they slip right in without tearing off.

Good idea, I used a wee bit of dish soap to the same end result. Ran 300 miles of mountain roads yesterday and the boards were great, total comfort.

If you need a little more "stretch" room, you can install them backwards.... Only downside is your pipes will drag in the twisties before the hero nubbins ever hit and the rubber part will say "hpmuirT"....

T from B~~ I'm 6'1" with size 13 stompers, I had to have sumtin better than pegs, I can still stretch my feet out on the highway and slide 'em back for around town but I'm an old geezer and don't care about being cool~~still think the bike looks OK with 'em

Got the boards on saturday. Easy peazy. I found that the oem bolts that where holding the master cylindar on where both already striped when I got there. I had to use a rubber mallet and an allen head socket to get the suckers off. I sort of glad because the chrome ones that I replaced them with are MUCH nicer looking.
I also noticed that the boards are very loosely fit to the brackets so I bought some small rubber washers and used them on the mounting bolts under the floorboards. I like the results.
I only took a quick test run.....so far, I like them a bunch!!!!
thanks all!!!!!

As if those who have them don't know. These boards are NICE.
VERY comfy and exactly what I was looking for. I AM a bit disapointed at the brackets because the chrome isn't as perfect as the rest of Triumph's chrome but it's not too bad and it isn't REALY noticable. They will be powder coated down the road anyway.
The boards will put your feet slightly higer then the pegs. For those who have to stretch to the pegs and get hip fatigue, these are a perfect solution because of that.
The boards are so large and give you SO much foot room that the bike will 'feel' bigger. They allow you to pull your feet MUCH closer to your body almost like a set of mid controls and then allows you to stretch WAY out just like forward controls. The best of BOTH worlds.
NO NEED FOR THE HEEL TOE SHIFTER. The stock toe shifter is perfect because it gives you the extra room that you need to move your feet around.
Here is something odd that I noticed. While at highway speeds, there seems to be a little less buffeting resistance. I am willing to bet that it's because of the angle of my legs and the blast is moving around my body rather then 'riding' my legs and smacking me in the head.
The ONLY complaint that I have is that there realy should be a brake pedal upgrade so that the pad could be a smidge bigger. Not really a big deal and it's easily overcome.
Thanks for the advice guys!

This brake petal cover is a possibility. I just put one on my Speedmaster and it looks pretty nice. Size is great. But it seems nothing is easy with Triumph. The opening under neath this cover and the 2 set screws are meant for a square or large rectangle pad area....Triumph's is tapered, so the set screws just barely grip. I'm still tweaking my install, so the jury is still out on this product. http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=harley&ci=3204

Great review, Tony... I've had boards for years, couldn't agree more - super good addition to the bike!

Tony, are both of your boards basically "level" when the bike is upright? The one on the port side of my bike seems to slant down a bit.

Slant down away from the bike? Or slant down to the rear a little? Wendy has them on hers as well and I ride it now and then so am familiar.

Slants or droops down in the side to side plane, outside edge lower than inside edge (not talking about front to back).

I HAVE noticed on a few bikes that the floorboards' outside edge will droop like you described. Mine do not do that at all. They are bone straight. At least it is NOT noticable and I DID check for that. I did notice that the brake side floor board's front edge is slightly turned outward compaired to the shifter side. That isn't as visualy distracting as what you mentioned. I WILL check the bike more the next time I ride it. BTW-another short 25 or so miles on them last night and it was 2 up this time. I can't explain why but the bike is SO much easier to handle (at slow speeds) with the boards. I gather it is because my feet are allowed to be 'tucked' in and positioned closer to me. Hence putting more weight at the center point. (That made sense in my head-don't know it did after translation)

I looked and hers don't slant side to side at all, I double checked to be sure but I had never noticed anything while riding it but didn't want to say it didn't then find it did. I haven't seen any that do but I haven't seen many yet.

I had my 07 SM next to another 07 SM with the factory boards, & both bikes had the same issue...left board slanted down on the outside edge...

Not to change the subject, but where did you get that black ring around the front of your headlight?

Hey there everyone. Just had to throw in my 2cents. Got 2 sets of Kuryakyn Boards today for my wife's America. They were cheaper than the triumph alternatives and easy as pie to install etc. they look great too. With the triumph adaptors they came out to about $220 a pair. http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=metric&ci=3551I installed them today and love them. They are adjustable in front to back tilt as well as side to side tilt. Mark

Wait until you go on a long ride. My ancient back used to kill me after 300 miles in a day but with the floorboards I can move around enough that I can actually walk. Or shuffle...

Has anyone tried the Triumph and the Rivco floorboards? The Triumph have more rubber contact surface. I imagine that affects how your foot can slide around looking for comfort.

I tried the Rivco. Nice workmanship but the angle was all wrong for me. Too flat. Also, compared to the Triumph, they were too short front to back. Sold them and got the OEM-much better (for me).

I have a slight issue with the position of the pegs and am interested in the comments of how the footboards seem to add that little bit of comfort. Dont suppose there is anyone from Melb, Aus, who has floorboards fitted. I would really like to check them out before committing myself.
