Hi guys, this may seem stupid to most of you but what does TORS stand for?
I've been told my America could be delivered mid May, sooner than I thought!!

Personnally I think its a good idea to keep the stock pipes around.Ya never know when some twit will pass a realy restrictive noise law. and changing back and forth between the TORS and the stockers is a pretty simple matter. Good luck with the new ride you are gonna love it.

You NEED to keep the originals......you won't pass the MOT without them. The TOR's are stamped Not for road use or something. But you'll have 3 years to worry about that.

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

Oh, yes. Like Gina said - keep the originals. Here we have MOT every second year, and last week when I went there I put the sewing machine silencers on. There they were for an hour and a half. Staying on the shelf now until April 2010...

And remember - There aren't any stupid questions other than the ones never asked...

Yes that the same as me, originals are up in the loft for MOT, I find the short TORs loud enough for me and the UK.

Good job I'm keeping the originals then, are the TORS much louder or is it just tone?

I'm lucky, no emissions testing for motorcycles or scooters here in the State of Washington. But we have the 3rd highest gas prices in the US, so it evens things out....lol

You'll no doubt love your new ride. I got my America with the off road pipes this past summer. Heck, if I didn't have a meeting later today I'd kick out of work early to go riding. One thing I did notice though, I had a lot of backfiring when I first got it. When I brought it in for the initial 500 mile checkup, I had a K&N filter installed. Maybe it was the filter, maybe it was getting broken in, either way the backfiring was significantly reduced.

Noise isn't an official part of the MOT, although, if they're stupid loud, it'll fail. It's all down to the tester's discretion. I'm pretty sure TORS aren't anything to worry about.

TORS: Triumph Off-Road Silencers.

Get out your map now and while away the time working out the longest possible way home from the bike shop. On D day (D for Delivery) you'll be glad you did.

Unless he picks it up right before bedtime I see no reason to go home at all.

I'm picking the bike from Hugendon M40. about 15 miles away from home and there are plenty of routes I can take so I'm just hoping for some good weather.
Re: projects, I've had an 21 year old XV700 for the last 18 months and that was my project bike, chopped the rear end, handmade sissy bar etc etc, so now I want a bike I can just ride! The XV is going on to my son. The XV had a set of Jardine pipes and saled thru 2 MOT's and they are loud. Also my Bonnie has fuel injection so I'm hoping it should still run pretty clean as theres no jetting to adjust. Anyone with any experience of the fuel injected Bonnies yet?

This weekend, about 50 or so of us off this site are getting together at Dent in the Yorkshire Dales. See Rides & Rallies in the main index. it is under 'uk meet in Langdale' (location has changed since Ray started to organise it). Any bike or car welcome, the more the merrier. Meeting times and places start on about page 74.
I know it is short notice, but most of us are meeting for the first time, so if you have the chance and a tent come along and say hello

Welcome to the site, and soon the bike. What's this about good food in England? I thought they didn't have any.

Fuel injected bikes can still run lean but it isn't as simple to fix as jetting. You have to change what controls it and I am not sure if the program exists yet but I'm sure it won't be long before it does.

It may be since you must have an oxy sensor the bike may correct for the TORs all by itself....maybe.

Thats probably it, he did say something about a Lambda sensor in the the exhaust header. I must read up on injection systems, might help!

Cheers
