Bonneville America Forums Forums Technical Forums General Tech My first oil change. Advice?

I put a piece of 5/4 decking wood under the kick stand and just let it sit and drain until it isn't dripping anymore. Also if you warm the bike it will drain faster but don't burn yourself with the hot oil. I use a standard swivel handle small filter wrench. You can reuse the drain plug gasket abut be sure everything is clean. Be sure to fill the filter and smear a little oil on the filter gasket before you spin it on. Of course use Amsoil full synthetic 20/50 motorcycle oil and an Amsoil filter.
