The motor DOES get pretty hot. Especially the right side case.

this bike has 250 miles is that normal for the chain to be that sloppy?

No. The dealer did a sloppy job of setting it up. I would suggest checking everything, especially the oil level.

I had some Kung Pao Chicken the other night.
Now I like stuff hot, and the food was excellent, but those little black peppers? TOO HOT!!!

Pushing up from the center of the chain it shouldn't be more than about 1 1/4" of play. I keep mine right at 1". It does sound like it wasn't set up right or not torqued to spec.

I agree, the manual says there is supposed to be 1- 1 1/2" play in the chain. The engine casings and around the cooling fins on the top end do get hot, though. That's normal.

I forgot to add. Congratulations on your new bike and welcome to the site!

If you think the engine gets hot, try the pipes.

Can't say for sure, but I'd want to believe the exhaust smoke gots to be at least 6 or 800 degrees F as it leaves the exhaust valves? My mechanical frame of reference is largely heavy duty diesel, so I may be off by a wide swath. Gotta be 400 or 500 F anyway when under load.

I'd guess the engine cooling fins must get up to at the minimum 200 F? Another guess. Hot enough to sear the meat off your bones whatever it is.

My oil temp runs around 180 - 200 F in Summer, and 150 F in Winter. 150 F seems to be as low as it will ever get for me.
