Just came from Inglis Cycle where My new '07 Speedmaster was being readied for delivery on Saturday and the new squarish Triumph Engine Guards were on the bike. So, we now know that they will fit pre '08 Americas. They do look good in my opinion. They're 1&1/4" in Diameter, so lots of choices out there for foot pegs Don

Thank You Shutterbug. My new engine gaurds are still on order but I am glad that fitment is now established as not being a problem. I have an 04 Speedie. I hope I get the crash bars in May.
The adjustable highway peg mount and pegs are listed as not being available until June.

Yea, that's good news Kevin. I'm going with Kuryakyn Foot Pegs. And other items. Kuryakyn products are nicely chromed and look good. Don http://kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=metric&ci=3260

Are the new engine guards a Triumph part or are they another brand?

So your dealer has them in stock now eh? What are the part numbers for the Kurakyn mount and peg? Is that an ajustable peg mount?

That is a much better looking crash bar setup than the other Triumph option.

Yes, my dealer ordered me a set 3 weeks ago and I had them on the bike Saturday. They fit very securely and look good as they don't stick out too far, but will protect the engine in the event of a tip over. The Kuryakyn foot pegs are adjustable in many ways and also look sharp as they curl back around the engine guard the way I currently have them set up. Went for a ride today to test them out and found the left foot rest a little too close to the shifter as my toe keep hitting it. Will tweak it tomorrow. http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=metric&ci=3260The # 8002 would probably give you more toe room. http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=metric&ci=3262

Thanks Don for the excellent pics. I love the look of both the bars and your choice of highway pegs. I've tried to do a search on the triumph website to see how much they are and couldn't find them. Can you give me a ball park figure for the bars please mate?

Stacka....The new bars list for $210.00 Canadian....I got mine for 15% less because of the new bike purchase. Inglis Cycle is a very good Triumph dealer and they ship all over. Contact Gord Inglis if you want to pursue it. Don http://www.ingliscycle.com/

I like the new guards there, Don. And here's what I especially like about them... Where as I thought the older design didn't have "classic bends" in them, these new ones do, BUT maybe more importantly, the bottom of them appear to be high enough so that you don't run the risk of grounding them in deep turns and possibly lifting the front wheel off the tarmac as you might with the MA's aftermarket design.
(BTW...congrats of your "birthday present" there)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

You're right there Dwight..... the bottom of the Engine Guard is at the same height as the top rail of the Foot Control, so no way are you going to dig those bars in. Don

Thanks Don for the price and also the tip on Inglis Cycles. I'm not in a posi to buy yet but in time So, not only do the bars look really really nice IMHO, but they aren't overly priced. I think we're onto a winner here boys and girls.

What I like about the Triumph bars, including the triangle design (which I just installed on my America) is that they are subtle. I don't like these huge extra wide bars that I see on HDs all the time, they are just too loud and distracting for my taste.
Your bike looks great shutterbug.

I've thought about adding bars, but just can't bring myself to do it. To me, the most distinguishing feature to spot on all the classic Triumph twins (including cruisers) is the angled headers coming out of the cylinders. IMO, any chrome bars mixed in makes them stand out less and harder to see going down the road. Protection is nice, hwy. pegs would be cool, but it's all more HD and less Triumph in appearance.

I agree with that to a degree. But it sure does look like the new engine crash bars are less obtrusive than some others. I look forward to mine arriving as my legs are as long as the longest day in June. I really feel a need to stretch them out on longer comfort rides and the highway pegs will do that for me.
They seem to look less like a "training aid" then some crash bars seen on some bikes.
A co-worker of mine has a brand new shiny 883 Sportster and he has what must be the standard engine crash bars on it and those things are so noticeable that they really do detract even more from what is in my opinion and ugly bike to begin with.

Kevin, you hit the dilemma I have. I'm 6' and also would like to have a more stretched riding position on longer rides. But, to have he hwy. pegs, I have to have the bars.

Hi all, my new engine bars are being shipped to me from Sydney so I should have them in a couple of days. I'm now in the hunt for some good highway pegs and noticed Don's kury numbers. Can anyone tell me if they have been happy with their kury pegs cos I don't have any "try before you buy" options and I have quite long legs. also, if anyone has got different pegs to Don's kury's I would also like to hear from you guys too, if you don't mind. Stacka....I can't now recomend the Dually Pegs I first had on my bars, They looked great, but are too large and interferr with your toe...especially in a panic stop.. So, I took them off and now have on order the Kuryakyn Retro Pegs. Long and Narrow. I also ordered the Retro Shifter pegs which I installed the other day on my heel toe shifter and they look smashing! The peg number is #4415 and the Shifter peg is #4404. You need to drill the threads out on the shifter bar. I'll put up some photo's soon. Don http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=harley&ci=3218

Thanks for the info Don. I haven't ordered any pegs yet but would really appreciate some pics of your setup. This sort of thing really requires a little bit of trial and error (hopefully not too much error) so any evaluation from you would be great. thanks

I have the dually Kurakyn pegs as my setup. Got tired of waiting on the Triumph parts and just went to the local Hardly dealer and bought Hardly adjuatable mounts for a 1 inch diameter bar and the Kurakyn dually pegs.
I like the dually as they provide a nice wide stable platform for my size 11.5 riding boots.
I finally got the Triumph stuff and have not made up my mind to keep them as an alternate or just sell them.

Here are some pics of the Kury 7999 Offset Large Iso mounted to the new Triumph Engine Guard. I used blue painters tape under the Kury clamps so as not to marr the chrome while I was adjusting. Took me a few different positions till I got it the way I like it. Test ride was fine but short. Ill know more later this week or weekend. Either way...looks good, mounts good.

Just thought I'd send in this photo of my speedie with the engine crash bars so people can have another look at them and decide if they like them or not. My biggest reasons for buying was: 1. To protect my bike a bit more, and 2. as a good way to put on hwy pegs for longs rides. I'm still saving for them though. cheers all

Apologies for the late reply. The pic was taken a while back so the screen is a Clearview 17" with original Triumph summer screen hardware. I have since bought a Memphis Shades Big Shot. The seat is Corbin solo with backrest and the rack I bought from Brent a while back.
