A buddy of mine went down yesterday in traffic. He was on the way to work in Charlotte, and a car clipped his rear end as the car was changing lanes. He is OK; he walked away from the accident. Extremely fortunate. Evidently he went off the side of the bike as it slid down the interstate, and luckily he stayed in his lane as he rolled and slid. The early morning traffic was relatively heavy all around him. He was going about 60 mph at the time, and the bike slid about 150 feet.
He has some bumps and bruises, but he was fully geared and it took a beating. He was wearing a full-face helment. The front of it is what hit first, and it did it's job. There is also a big bite out of the rear of the helment. His gloves are ruined also, but again, they did their job. His legs are the worst. He was wearing jeans with wind pants over the top. He believes that his pant legs slid up and that made it worse.
Was riding a Suzuki V-Twin, and I understand that it is in pretty bad shape.
Let's be careful out there.

Bummer, at least he walked away. Now you can talk him on to a Triumph!
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Why oh why do cagers tailgate motorcyclists? Better education while you have your learner permit is needed really badly.
Glad your buddy came out of it to be able to tell the story. Please tell me that the cager got a nice ticket and citation.

Sorry to hear that. Glad to know he'll be ok. Along with his new ride (Hopefully a Triumph), suggest to him to invest in good gear for his legs. My Tourmaster armored pants worked very well in my recent laydown, although I wasn't going 60 mph. But it's better than wearing jeans & windpants.

Unfortunately, he already has an '06 Black America in the garage, but he never rides it. Probably little more than 1,000 miles on it, and he had over 37K on the Suzuki. Go figure. He keeps hoping his wife will ride the America
Spoke with him last night. He is very sore and beat up, but thankfully that is the worst of it. It looks like the bike is totaled, and that the other guys insurance will hopefully be covering the bike, helment, etc.
He is saying that he will probably get another Suzuki.

Glad he is OK, I can vouch for the lousy drivers in Charlotte. Feels like riding in the middle of a Rally race here. Lady took me out two months ago, still rebuilding my bike.
I was wearing gear, it helped. My new gear is going to be bright yellow. Hope it helps the cages see and avoid me during the race.
