Will using the stock needle with one shim accomplish something close to the same thing as TBS needles? I have a 2008 Speedmaster on which I just installed Bubs and K&N pods. I put in 145 mains, but left the pilots in which I guess are 40s until I could get a screwdriver that fits better. Also Dinqua's carb jet replacement site said to try the stock pilots first. My idle screws are about 3 1/4 turns out and I think I'm still a little lean at low throttle, but only a very occasional minor pop. I guess I'll try 42 pilots. Does anyone know why Triumph went from 42 to 40 pilots in the more recent years?
