Not always true, I went to look at a 58 Triumph T-110 a couple years ago. They thought they had a real antique and wanted $2,500 and I thought it was a deal. (my friend told me about it and I hadn't seen it yet) So we drove down there and I picked it apart pointing out all the parts that were not original and acted like I was about to leave, had even gone to the door when the people called me back in and asked what I thought it was worth. I took it home for $500. It's the one in photo post in my gallery when we get it back. That is an extreme example of price reduction but you can usually get a bike for less that a person wants. I got my 64 BMW for $400, He wanted $500 I offered $300 he said no he wanted $500. I left and went home about 2 weeks later I got a phone call offering it to me for $400, I couldn't get there fast enough! During that 2 weeks I can't tell you how many times I had the phone in my hand to just give him the $500 he was asking. It was worth much more even in the rough condition it was in. Didn't take much to clean it up and it did run with only 4,000 original miles on it if I remember right. I still ride that bike from time to time.
