Suppose some folks feel they want to, some don’t. Maybe it stems from the tradition of naming ships and boats for good luck?
I've named my bikes, don’t usually name my cars, they just get me from A to B. See my bikes as different though. Maybe it’s because I have a lot more enjoyment and spend more care on my bikes than my cars!
Anyway it’s harmless - Black Bess is named after the highwayman Dick Turpin’s trusty mare BTW, though his lifestyle by all accounts was a tad dodgy...
