Now Sarge, don't you think it might have had a just a little to do with the idea that Preston Tucker's grandiose plans were extremely underfunded to begin with?

The way I figure it, these sorts of "hey folks..get twice your mileage with this thing" such as this gizmo Rob has brought to our attention here being "stiffled by major auto companies so they can keep up getting low milage" has never made sense to me. If some "genius" DID ever come up with something that works, I would think the major auto companies would be chompin' at the bit to buy this technology so as to be better positioned in the marketplace.
(this is why I've always been a bit skeptical about these kinds of products)
