Here's my thoughts on the subject:
Batteries for our bikes cost around $80.
If you need to jump a battery, It should be replaced.
Lead acid batteries can sulfate, short cells, and if
not maintained be dry.
Sure, you can make the bike start by jumping it off,
but what's gonna happen when the alternator is trying
to charge a bad battery? It's gonna fry! And maybe take
some other components down with it????
That being said, I have the original battery in my '03.
Now I've gone and jinxed myself.
