Thanks Matt, I was about to go into details about this myself. If you're looking for an instant boost/start then the only way is with booster cables, or packing around a spare charged battery, or even so new fancy dancy lighter kit (never used them, have no idea how well they work on the side of the road). But I believe the smartest thing to set up at home or in your garage is a 2Amp trickel charger. The one we have is the size of you fist and mounted on the wall, the leads that come off of it has a SAE 2 pin plug, in which you can plug either a set of gator clips for tempruary use, eyelets to mount to your battery long term and have the plug sticking out somewheres (under the seat), or a male ended cigerate lighter plug (we picked up a BMW adapter lead). This set up will charge the battery over night enough to start the bike, will also keep the battery charged during winter and prolonging it's battery life. Not 100% sure, but I believe this set up cost us less then $100CAD
