Hi all, I was wondering if there was anyone who had done a dyno recently since these one's

I just find the results really interesting and particularly when the bike's settings are shown also.

Staffo, I had posted my pre and post dyno runs after the BB install but they were lost when PhotoPost went down. I'll probably will get a new one done next time the bike is at the shop.

I should have mine done by Thur, its in the shop they just got the dynojet kit in today hopin its done in a day or so, will post results asap

Good stuff fellas. As I've said before, it would be brilliant if we could get organised where all the Scanned dyno results were in one spot for members to look at.

What is really important though is that all the changes members have made are included. For example Freak or Uni filter, what sized jets and needles with shims, Bubs or Tors etc how many turns of the air/fuel pilot adjustment, weisco kits. That sort of thing. I noticed in some of the already scanned dyno results that some of the info was ommited ie LizardKing hasn't shown what pipes he has, stuff like that.

Why I like to see what others have done is so that I can assess and then adopt similar changes hoping for similar results or should that be, steal their hard earned gains by just doing just what they've done.

After all, that's what's so great about this place isn't it, blokes willing to share their experience with others.

Even if some of us don't do some changes eg weisco kits, it's still interesting to see what results are produced by the different setups.

So can anyone tell me if we have one spot to send the dyno results to. I remember unclecharlie had offered to put validated results from scanned dynos into a spreadsheet but that seemed to go to the wayside. I was just curious that's all.

BTW, once I get my bubs from Fast Eddy and have my setup sorted as best I feel I can get it, then I'll organise a dyno and will also post my results so others can view them too.

It's all about sharing info here isn't it?

Hey Dave, how's things going. Thanks for the numbers mate. So what size mains did you end up with cos 125's (I think that's what you originally had) were way too small eh for your setup and the dyno showed it. How's it going with your big bore you mentioned, are you underway? I've looked for some info on it but nothing there yet.

No I didnt change the jets, I put 2 shims under each needle to compensate for it a little bit. I'll get bigger jets with the big bore. I'm still waiting on my oversized valves to come in so they can finish the head work. I have everything else just sitting and waiting, so as soon as the head is ready I will drop the bike off and have all the stuff done at once (including new back tire and TBS cush drive). Hope its soon, I expected to be done already, and my valves were ordered more than a month ago.

Figures, go to use scanner today..no go
Any way dyno has been done, best he could do was 59 HP, stated out at 51 1st run? (odd supposed to have 54 to start)
I told him others have gotten more out of theese bikes, he said more than likely the shorty open pipes im running.
Man what an improvement in the seat though, no flat spots or dips and she pulls hard all the way. Out for my test drive and had a sport bike come out from behind me and pass...twisted on her and before i knew it we were at 100 (speedo 100 anyway) stayed right on him, I think he thought he was going to walk away from me. Felt goood

Dave, any chance of you scanning the dyno printout and posting a pic

It's just a lot more interesting for us (actually others that can understand them) to see how the lines look and whether there are dips etc.

Also, Isn't it brilliant (also very addictive) when you notice your improvements feel better in the saddle. Goodonya

63.59 hp,ghetto freak,150 main,45 pilot,home made exhaust,18 tooth tranny sprocket.
home elev. 4700'
i have since reworked the intake side to take out the rich mid range.

Hi all,

Well I had my dyno yesterday and I'm really happy with my results. In particular though, the torque numbers in my opinion are sh#t hot, and pretty well explains the real nice acceleration I get these days or as this bloke puts it pushback into your seat when he discusses the relationship between Hp and Torque.

Anyway, fyi the dyno machine was a Dynojet 250i and whilst it is over 3 years old, it is still the latest dynojet model available. Anyway, the bloke who owns and operates it has done over 400 different bikes with 11,000 runs, so I'm happy with his credentials. Just one final thing, we all try to compare each others dyno's but unfortunatley, as has been mentioned before, only bikes that have been done on the same dyno, by the same operator using the same settings on the same day, will be accurately comparable. Also, I have been told other machines, and not necessarilly dynojet or even previous dynojet models, can give higher HP readings due to the way they are set up, and I imagine the same may be said for torque in reverse with mine for instance.

What I'm saying here is that, dynos are designed to improve the performance of the bike it is dynoing, and whilst it is a brilliant guide for others to use when choosing their settings, (I did) it doesn't mean they will get the same readings. It's just way more complicated than that, with too many variables.

BTW, There were 4 runs done and this one was the best. The first 2 were getting my bike to operating temperature etc and the last 2 were nearly identical. Also, just so I could fit all the info into one image, I superimposed the air/fuel details onto the torque/hp image.



So, at the end of the 4 runs, the bloke who did the dyno reckoned the air fuel was pretty blo#dy good and he wasn't sure we could improve it. Looking at it, I would have to agree but perhaps another shim on the stock needles, but I'm open to any analysts out there with opinions both good and bad.

So, overall my redheaded Sheila hasn't disappointed one bit but what I really liked was, there doesn't appear to be any more for me to do but enjoy the ride.

Gotta be happy with that eh?

Well Dave, It's not difficult asking for advice and virtually copying the settings of those who have already done the hard yards.

My only doubts before the dyno was whether I should use 152 mains, tbs needles or an extra shim. Even then I wouldn't have thought they would have made that much difference. Mind you, I'm not really a fan of the tbs needles in our bikes anyway but again until a dyno is done who knows?

I am looking forward to seeing your dyno results though Dave, now you've gone that extra step. Should be interesting mate.

Ken, thanks for your comments. I'm just not sure what you mean by your saying "the unltimate dyno numbers are relative". Do you mean the best numbers are relative to your own bike and what you've done, or something else perhaps? Just interested.

Staffo, allow me to expand. What I intended to say was that dyno figures can vary depending on the specific dyno used and other variables including but not limited to the operator, altitude, temperature & humidity. Theoretically the correction factors are supposed to adjust. I don't get to hung up on comparing runs between Bike 1 on Dyno A & Bike 2 on Dyno B. The same results on the same bike are not necessarily exactly repeatable from dyno to dyno. IMO the best measure of progress is against your own bike on the same dyno, & even at that the exact numbers are not necessarily repeatable. Therefore I prefer to watch the A/F ratio, & shape of the curves. That is in part why I said the ultimate numbers are relative & not absolute.

That's why it was so cool to put 6 or 7 bikes on the Dyno at
last year's New Hampshire Rally(thanks Rob). My only regret
is that we didn't chip in to put Bill's stock bike on for
a baseline.

Yep, spot on Ken.

We are on the exact same wavelength, and totally agree about the air fuel ratio comment , and Charlie you're right too. So much better to do what you guys did. Even then though (I'm not saying it did), a sudden drop in pressure from a thunderstorm for instance will skew the figures too. Lots of variables in there but we all agree, great info to get your own bike sorted.

I really enjoyed looking and reading that post btw with all the dynos and yes, I think it was a shame you didn't get a stock bike on there . but all in all really interesting stuff

Been away from the desk working so I missed this, that's a pretty nice A/F chart there John...I'm betting that rich dip is a function of the mix screws and you could go in about a half a turn to clean that up. That's a very pretty HP wind up and I can only hope my pod adventure ends up with a similar result.
