Around here, I don't mind riding at night because the cagers think you may just be one (or half of one) of them. I find that I have far fewer "pullouts" in the dark than during the day because in the dark all they are looking for is headlights not car.
If I lived somewhere with a lot of deer, I might be tempted to think otherwise.
