Question for the masses: Is it time for a major redesign of the America and Speedmaster?

Good question. My answer is yes, John. And here's my ideas of what a major redesign would entail:

(1)-Keep the basic engine design intact but increase the displacement to around 1000cc or maybe even a little larger with a bigger bore and possibly even a longer stroke.

(2)-Keep the original frame intact but slightly redesign it to accept, as an option, footpegs farther back and under the seat.

(3)-Upgrade the stock suspension to fully adjustable units.

(4)-In the aesthetics department, I'd get rid of the chrome tank console and go with a more traditional twin instrument package.

(5)-(and most importantly in my book)-Have the boys in Hinckley slightly adjust their mindset about their "Classic Line" of Triumphs and get away from the idea of building these beauties solely on the premise of "Building 'em to a (low) price", as I STILL believe that they would STILL sell as many as they do even at $10,000.

(Of course, I've been saying these same things for years now ya know)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
