I've always disliked the america sticker that is under the clear coat on the sidecover, so having an extra tank badge laying around I decided to beat on it with a rubber hammer (the badge) to see if it would fit and cover that dreaded sticker... worked out great. I would post a pic but alas I am truly a computer idiot maybe I can get my kid to do it this weekend

I never liked stickers, either, although the small ones on sidecovers don't bother me. The ones I hate is on the side of the gas tank. My first Jap bike was a 77 650 Yamaha (which I bought for its obvious copy of the good looking Triumphs I cut my teeth on.) I really hated the stickers all the way down the tank and immediately repainted the tank. Actually, one of my favorite things about my America is the cool, retro medalian on the side of the tank. One of the least favorite is the cheapo, but good looking, tank console. I wish it was a nice chrome plated piece of pot metal!

A few years back Brent looked into making these, but it never materialised because of the price if I remember rightly..
Would of been nice to change where the idiot lights are..

One of the best things I've seen done with the side covers was they were re-painted. Photo Post is still offline, but I had seen a picture of an America or Speedmaster that had been torn down the bare bones and painted the frame, fenders, tanks, and side covers to match one paint scheme (red) and it looked very sharp. When I'm no longer living on a college budget, that is what I would like to do with my America some Winter, maybe change the front end also, only the future can tell.

Someone here covered theirs with leather, looked really cool. Can't remember who it was.

I hated the decals so much I got rid of both side panels. I removed the bracket from the freak and bought the stainless brace from Brent. My side panels wouldn't fit on anymore so I moved the battery under the seat to balance out the look. I think it looks great. If only photopost wasn't down...
