When you stated "it struggled to catch" how long did you try to turn the engine over? Did it sound like it was stuggling? If it spun over with authority the battery is probably fine. Boost or charge as stated and try again.
If that doesn't work and all your connections are fine, Ian is probably right about bringing it to the dealer for a starter gear and housing change. Should be warranty though.
