That'll be THREE Hail Marys and one COMPLETE Rosary for you guys!!!
Ah well, I guess I have to admit I've always kind'a liked just the standard ol' DynaGlide myself.

Nice. Only $19,949. Couple of new HDs appeal to me, can't get around the price issue, though.

I checked out that "sportster bobber" and it is everything that is wrong with Harley. It is trying to be something it is not. I loved it before I saw it. But a springer front end with a shock and a softail with an ugly spring seat aint no bobber. 2 thumbs down.
pain is temporary, pride is forever.

Only reason I love Harleys, You can RENT any one they make for $89.00-$139.00 a day, unlimited miles. Depending on my mood, I can pick Model, Color, Quick disconnect acc., etc. All I know is they better be full of gas and start when I get there. And at the end of the day, I drop it off! No maint.,insurance, storing. Over the last three years, I've averaged 3-4 rents a year. Equals about one months payment! No, I can't personalize it (thank God),but I rent a different one every time. Probably road more different Harleys then most. Every other day of the year, I'm on Bonne! Life IS good!
And you may see me tonight

Thats a good lookin bike. I'm not sure about the seating position, though. Looks like an arm stretcher to me.

I looked at one yesterday. The floor model had all the chrome replaced with silver powder coat. I like the look of the chrome in your link better.
The only thing I did not care (outside of price tag of course) was the very noticeable (to me) gap between the seat and fender.
It was very nice overall.

Tom

The difference between the Rocker and Rocker C is that the C stands for chrome....seriously I dont like the way the seat floats above the fender either

All these "good looking" comments are bewildering. It looks like any other HD..."da same". What is so attractive about it other than the gimmic seat and it's new?? Whoopie Goldberg! What a scam at that price$$$$.

I don't know if I can articulate my thoughts on this or not.(could be the reason of my not so hot feelings for HD)I agree its a good looking bike. But somthing about buying a bike that looks custom kinda bugs me.Used to be half the fun of motorcycling was doing the custome work yourself.Sorta like buying a fully restored classic veh and taking it to a car show.

Harley Davidson has put some real effort and money into engineering their bikes in the last few years. They now offer such things as throttle-by-wire, internally run cables to de-clutter the handle bar area, ABS, and a few other things which raise the bar for other bike manufacturers to meet. I think they've come a long way, and some of the things they've come up with would be nice to have on a Triumph. Also, most of the HD line looks a whole helluva lot better than that ugly beast, the Rocket III!

Don't want to high/jack this thread but BMW has had ABS and I think even air bags for a few years now.Not real sure HD has raised the bar an anything exept marketing.

I agree that the Rocket 3 was fugly, but the new Rocket Touring bike is soooo pretty. If I hit it big, thats my 2-up bike of choice, and the America will be a solo seat street rod

The Rocker C looks nice. Factory chopper with a warranty. If I had the money to have 5 bikes in my garage, that might be #5 (following my current '02 TBA, a blue&white Rocket III Classic "Corbin Edition," a Triumph Scrambler done up Mad Max style, and a ground-up custom turbo Speedmaster chopper). I like the Rocker seat. There's a guy in my office building with a Kawasaki Drifter that, while more retro-Indian-looking, has the same style seat with the rear fender mounted to the swingarm. I dig that look. Of course, bike #5 in my stable might intead be a blacked out V-Rod with a Performance Machine Phat rear tire kit with billet wheels, just to peev-off my old-school Harley buddies who hate EFI water-pumpers...

HD also has a very cool integrated tail light/brake light/turn signal all rolled into the 'turn signals' which would be cool to have on our bikes. My point is that for all we love our bikes, Triumph has a ways to go to even come close to some of the trick stuff that HD engineers have come up with.

JD - I think part of that is that from the CEO down the HD execs attend bike events and see first hand what the buying public is doing and wants. I think most all the HD execs are riders. I don't think that the Triumph execs are riders, or at least they don't brag about it. John Bloor is a business man, and a good one at that, but I have never heard that he rides. I have personally met a lot of HD execs at bike functions including Willie G, and they always seem to listen. That being said I don't currently own a Harley cruiser but do own a Triumph.

Both excellent points, gentlemen. But don't forget, both of those particular brands you each mentioned usually have MSRPs much higher than do their comparable Triumph models, because while the basic motorcycle of all three brands mentioned here are well designed and crafted machines, Triumph tends to "build to a price" more than do the other two in order to better compete against Japan Inc.'s finest and their pricing.
And so John, when you say "Triumph has a long way to go", you're right. However, Triumph's whole philosophy regarding high-end price marketablity would also have to change. And I don't see that happening any time soon.
And so, if you really like the Harley Rocker and can afford it, I say buy it.
(just don't do anything dumb like trading in or selling your Speedy...'cuz you're almost certain to regret it if you do)

cant believe the price of the rocker...20,000!?!?!?! Are you kidding me? I have a bike (did I say speedmaster) that cost me 13,000 less and will hold up even better than that HD. AND, I turn heads when I ride, my bike it very unique around here; you cant go a city block without seeing a HD just like the one you just sawaround the corner! Each his own. I dont discriminate-if your on 2 wheels, you're alright in my book regardless of manufacturer. Be safe!
Best looking black girl around!
2004 SM-spokes, solo seat, lowered rear, 14 in apes, bobber rear fender, no front fender. Flat black all the way around.
