Have torn my engine apart and getting ready to ship the cylinder out for the machine work. I called Wiesco and Seely Engine & Machine in Stanely, NY (Dinqua's Machinist). I had this idea of sending out the head also to have some porting and polishing done while the thing is tore apart. I've done some research and concluded that the money sunk into head work may be better spent on Carbs for the gain in HP. I'm not looking to break my bank account or I'd do both. Ive pretty much also concluded that the stock carbs are junk regardless what you do to try to improve them. Any inputs or ideas would be appreciated.

Check this out, Matt did mine. I still dont have flow numbers yet, as I'm waiting on my oversized valves to come in. He'll give you a good price. http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...ge=0#Post301259

if you do with carbs i say go with the mikuni 42's. i had them on the stock motor and while the bike ran good they gave me no real hp gain. but with my 904 WOW. the throttle response is amazing and i can go WFO with no bog at all. on big bore bikes i think the 42's are it. they are expensive but you get great tech support from bill, plus he will be very helpful with any other future questions

I'm really scratching my head now Where's a decent place to price the Mikunis? I saw a kit here http://www.bonnevilleperformance.com/Carb%20Kits.htm but WOW! not quite the price I had in mind. As I see it, it's a bolt on. So if I go buy the carbs seperatley then I guess I'm looking at manufacturing brackets, modifying the cables and choke and buying new K&N's because my existing K&N's don't fit. Is this a hard mod or rather simple? Also Frank, do you have the accelerator pumps on your 42's? Thanks, Kerby

the pumps are disabled but with all the work i have done i think i could set them up if i wanted, but it runs so good i dont wanna mess with it. the kit is expensive but he takes some off if you already have the freak, also if you price everything separate you would be surprised how little you actually save, also you wont have the carbs set up perfect right out of the box. he jets it for you. plus you are paying for his tech support which has saved my a$$ on things that happened during my BB and clutch install. you could go with the kehin 39's at a little less money but i heard that are a nightmare to tune and dont have a choke so if it gets cold you may have starting problems. or you could just run the stock carbs and see if your happy, and if you want more start saving. stinks the aftermarket for us is so small, but at least we have some quality parts to even choose from
