Well I did a search and couldn't find the description but if I remember right: one member here made a bike lift using a length of 2X10 and mounting a 4' galvanized pipe with a floor flange and padding the edge with a strip of carpet to protect the frame. Pipe mounts perpendicular to the wide side at one end and then just rotate the board for a simple lift. That way you could pull the rear wheel and remove the air box intact.

That is, of course, only if the sawzall technique doesn't work for you.
