There is a male/female type of attaching arrangment in the front bottom part of the seat,so after removing the rear bolt, lift up the back of the seat and slide the seat toward the rear of the bike about three inches, then ya can lift straight up. If you remove the rear passenger pad and just ride with the front seat only,it really brings out the flavor of this old british machine IMHO.Your tool kit will be outfitted and supplied by you.A fork style tool bag works nicely for that purpose, and it will fit quite well on the lower part of the down tubes and foot peg cross bracket. It is a different place to mount it,and will not impede the air flow to the oil cooler in this location.Or you can mount it up on the fork tubes where everyone else does. Now you have the joy of thinking of all the ways you want to personlize your great new motorcycle, and as it becomes part of you,you will become part of it.I now feel a personal loss any day that I am not able to ride.It is that great of a machine.
