Just got my 05'America, and I can't figure out how to remove the seat. Is there a tool kit under there? Thanks in advance.

There's an allen key on my bike for removing the seat. It's inside the cover for the fuses.

Tool kit, what do you expect for $8,000? Lucky you have a seat. ;-)

There is a male/female type of attaching arrangment in the front bottom part of the seat,so after removing the rear bolt, lift up the back of the seat and slide the seat toward the rear of the bike about three inches, then ya can lift straight up. If you remove the rear passenger pad and just ride with the front seat only,it really brings out the flavor of this old british machine IMHO.Your tool kit will be outfitted and supplied by you.A fork style tool bag works nicely for that purpose, and it will fit quite well on the lower part of the down tubes and foot peg cross bracket. It is a different place to mount it,and will not impede the air flow to the oil cooler in this location.Or you can mount it up on the fork tubes where everyone else does. Now you have the joy of thinking of all the ways you want to personlize your great new motorcycle, and as it becomes part of you,you will become part of it.I now feel a personal loss any day that I am not able to ride.It is that great of a machine. Small wrench, 8mm I think, to undo the bolt at the rear of the rear seat. Lift and push forward to disengage the front bracket from the groove in the bolt holding the front seat, then set aside. Undo the grooved bolt at the rear of the front seat (that one is bigger, maybe 10 or 12mm). Lift the seat and slide it back. The front mount of this one has a tongue that goes under a tab on the frame.

Where did you get your your bike? They should have gone over that with you. You will have to hook up with the rest of the DFW crew next time everybody gets together. Hopefully it won't be long befor we meet up again.

I'll have to see if my tool pouch will mount there as I have it mounted under the lower triple tree. When the pouch is loaded with tools it effects the front end handling too.
