Original thread Northwest RAT Lunch Folks...for those of us making this run from the Seattle area or north of Chehalis down to Chehalis (including Celt and anyone he wants to bring with)... Ive ridden this ride with the Cycle Barn pack and it’s a nice ride and all but its a menagerie of bikes (mostly sportier bikes and folks that like to ride faster). Keep in mind since this is a RAT event it will be mostly Triumphs. Lots o Bonnies, Tigers, 675s, etc... I think weve established that the few of us that have gotten together dont ride like that so maybe we can plan a ride down on our own? So in an effort to get this planned... 1) Do we want to ride with Cycle Barn? 2) Do we want to ride with Tacoma Triumph (if they have a planned ride. Bob, any insight?)? 3) Do we want to get a plan to ride down on our own and meet up as we go down? 4) Do we want to get a plan to ride down on our own and meet at one location? Make your thoughts and opinions known and well either drop it or take it further.

When is all this taking place? the way I read it, it's the last weekend of April? As it happens, I believe I'm free then. (by the way, Z..I procured and installed my SS's, love 'em.).

We cant do the overnighter. Karen has another wedding shower on that Sat (no choice on this one...shes planning it). If I went to portland without her she wont ride down on her own...so Karen and I will be coming down on Sunday.

You bet I'm in on this one. I am in such need of a break from work it's not even funny. I'll ride down with you and Karen and whoever else wants to ride down on Sunday.

Why is this always planned the same weekend as the Leavenworth Alefest. I've already commited to that. But The leavenworth webcam looks like they still have a lot of snow, and I was planning on camping! So, That trip may be out. Have to see if spring arrives. Larry web page

ok then...seems like its going to be Karen and myself, Kirk, Mike and maybe Larry. Well probably have more riders on the way back up. You guys have any preference on riding down? Quote:

I have a few different routes we can take down. They range anywhere from 103 miles to 163 miles one way. I figure well take one to get down and another to get back unless we ride with another group like CB or TT. Since Karen and I are the furthest south well meet up somewhere have a pre-ride meeting (lesson learned from Steves Curve incident) maybe over breakfast, and all head out from there.

Folks, Due to timing and wanting to get to Chehalis on time I have come up with a route that will get us there in time and be a fun ride. Similar to the CB route but shorter. Here it is in a nutshell: Depart Issaquah Cafe via Gillman Blvd to Issaquah Hobart RD (Issaquah Hobart Rd to SE Kent Langley). Right turn at Kent Langley to 410 (410 to Enumclaw). * we gas up in Enumclaw take a break...whatever. Back onto 410 to Jefferson Ave. Left on Jefferson Ave, Right on S River Ave. This puts us on 165. 165 to Pioneer Way E (Follow Pioneer Way E to Orville Rd E). Left on Orville Rd E. Orville Rd E to Kapowsin Hwy E. Kapowsin Hwy E to SR7. Left on SR 7 to WA 702. WA 702 thru Yelm to WA 507. Wa 507 to Chehalis. This is roughly 105 miles and should take us about 2.5 hours. We should arrive in Chehalis at about 12:30 to 1:00 o clock just in time for the scheduled lunch. Ill have maps printed for all of you and Ill have waypoints programed into my GPS cause Im bad with remembering directions.

I rode the above route partly yesterday and the remainder today and it’s a nice mix of flat and mild twistys. No road construction and good roads throughout. There shouldn’t be much traffic so it should be a fairly smooth ride. Good place to gas up and take a breather in Orting area and again in Rainer if needed.
Weather looks good! “Sunday will be another nice day for most areas. Enjoy it while you can because we have some changes on the way. The changes will start at the coast. Partly sunny skies can be expected early in the day with more clouds and a chance for rain by the afternoon. The rain may start at the coast as early as lunch time. Rain will hold off for much of the Puget sound until late evening and possibly not until after dark.â€
Riders are Me Karen Bob Snorty...maybe!
Kirk is out due to work...again. You gotta feel bad for the guy. He had to work today and will have to work tomorrow.
See you all tomorrow morning.

Z, I actually was able to make it down my stairs, look at my stuff in the garage, and then stand at my condo entrance todaY!! Hooray for me! I'm even moving my left arm more, although I'm not allowed to raise it above the shoulder.
I was seriously thinking of trying to get my brother to bring me down, by car, tomorrow. But there would still be some "issues" that would make it tough for me to go. The big one being using the men's room. To be honest, when standing, I use my right hand to balance myself with walker. And standard seat is too low for me to use with my cast.
So, I hope you all have a safe ride. Wear good gear! And don't go looking to get a patch of road named after you!!!
Bob, John is not going? Tell him I say hello.
Steve
