Okay I'm not Simon, I can't be quite that nasty. But I am a judge for the Portland Teen Idol competition, a takeoff of American Idol for the local teenage set.
This weekend is quarterfinals, with 160 contestants, and some of these kids are really good singers. Next round starts April 26.
One of my co-judges is Jordan Thompson, last years winner, and a current 4th round winner in the show "Nashville Star", she'll be on TV Jun 9th.
It's a real challenge, but it's huge fun - I'll post some pics as soon as our Public Affairs guy gets them to me

Think about it.
They had to listen to 100,000 auditions.
About 150 were invited to Hollywood.(The good enough ones)
This was cut down to 24.(The good ones.)
Then the viewing public takes over.
If I had to listen to 99,850 bad singers and another 126 merely passable singers I would probably be a lot crankier than ol' Simon.

But when you think what talent is out there un-discovered it's unreal, if it was not for these sort of programs where would Leona Lewis be now!!!
