I would like a little more sound out of my TORS...my '06 SM has standard jetting, AI removed, and snorkle in place (didn't notice any performance increase with it removed). I want to drill 4 1/2inch holes in each rear baffle, but would prefer to leave the carbs and airbox alone. Using the bathtub analogy...same amount of water (air) going into the tub (engine), but now a larger drain (exhaust) to remove it. Would just drilling the baffles have an adverse effect on performance? Thanks
'06 Speedmaster, Long TORS, rest is stock (for now)

You probably need to bump up the mains from 120 to 125. That's probably why you didn't notice performance increase removing the snorkle. To breathe better it needs a corresponding fuel increase.

I agree on the snorkel, you won't notice anything if you dont adjust the rest of the circuit. Air can only enter as fast as it can get out and more air means you need more fuel. Not sure what version of TOR you have but just drilling the last baffle full of holes shouldn't makr much difference but just putting the TORs on you probably should have bumped your jets up slightly. I agree with maybe the 125 and open the mixture screws some.

I've been looking for more info on removing the snorkel but come up empty... does anyone have any links to share about the subject?

basicly just pull it out. Some of the older bikes had 2 more inside, don't know what year you have.

If you take the seat off there is a lid with 3 screws holding it down. That's the lid for the air filter,in the middle of that lid there is like a small rubber hose syicking up,that's the snorkle.
