I understand Welsh, Cornish & Breton are closely linked in the Celtic language family tree and stem from the common Celtic language Brythonic that was spoken in England, Wales and southern Scotland prior to the Roman Conquest.
The other branches of Celtic languages grew from the colonies that settled further West and North, namely Irish, Scottish Gaelic and Manx.
Although they are completely different nowadays due to change and dialect over time I think it's amazing that these ancient languages are still spoken and indeed seem to be making a come back in some areas in this day and age.
Seems the Celtic spirit will survive!
