Thanks for the compliments Steve, Thanassis and Baz. Thanassis, I have a long way to go to get to your standard of photography! Steve, I look forward to meeting you in Kernow one day. If you can arrange for Rick Wakeman to be there at the same time....although......a few weeks ago (as I pointed out in my first thread) Steve Howe appeared here in the band Asia. Baz, looks like your a regular to these here parts and we're sure to meet up one day.

Nigel, Yep that was me.  (sorry)  I will be in Hayle from the 19th July for a week. A pint somewhere would be good.  May try to get a few days down there before if we can make it without kids.  My sister (Jane on this site) will be in Gwithian in August. Our parents very seriously thought about buying the Post Office there a few years ago, and we still berate them for not buying a chalet on the towans!!!

As far as I know, they no longer exist, although some of the guys will still be around for sure. Interesting? Anything we should know.

Hi Grzegorz - I'm not a 'stranger' anymore now that I'm a Journeyman. 
I know where Gdansk is but haven't got a clue where Wigston is! I've been to Gdansk a couple of times in the fairly recent past. What a great city it is, too. I also enjoyed Gdybia and Sopot with its beautiful beach and pier. I remember also going to a cathedral in Gdansk where various kings are buried. There's also an incredibly loud organ that scared the cr*p out of me when a recital of Bach's Toccata and Fugue unexpectedly started. Can't remember its name, 'though.

Hey Nigel, here's a coincidence for ya.
Drove my Spyder to a Starbucks in Hermosa Beach CA yesterday, and later as I was leaving and stepping into my car I heard this guy sittin' in his car parked next to mine say with a british accent, "Awfully nice car, there. What exactly is it?"
And so I started telling him about my replica Beck 550 and eventually got around to tellin' him that it's the kind of car James Dean was killed in back in '55 when he drove head-on into a big ol' Ford sedan while on the way to race his Spyder in central California, and that my new "goal in life" is now to NOT end up like The Rebel did in his, and to acknowledge that I picked up on his accent, I said to him, "Knock on wood...or as you brits say...Touch wood." I then asked him what part of Blighty he was from, and he said Cornwall, and that he and his family were on holiday here in California. And so I told him about the beautiful pictures of Cornwall that you've posted here to which he replied, "Yes. It certainly is a lovely place."
Turns out he has a '68 Porsche 912 in great shape which he said he drives around Cornwall mostly during the summer months.
(small world, huh?!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Hi Dwight - yeah, the World is getting smaller by the day and we Cornish get bleddy everywhere  Would like to see a picture of your Beck 550 sometime. I think I saw it, or one like it, on a thread somewhere but sure as he*l I can't lay my hand on it now. Thanks for your compliments BTW.

Wierd that is, you know I am sure that is where a funny little Polish chap chased me across the car park to tell me about this site. Sure it was Nov 2005. Strange world!!!

Some great photos there Nigel and thanks for some the insight into Cornish history.
I speak Welsh (of a fashion!) but have an interest for other Celtic languages and history. Was just wondering what your signature would translate as?

Thanks, Dave, for the compliments. I have a keen interest in Cornish history, especially its suppressed constitutional history and its links to the income of the heir to the throne. In fact, on account of this 'special' status, Cornish history is far bloodier than even Irish history (on a pro rata basis).
As for my sig line, it means:

I understand Welsh, Cornish & Breton are closely linked in the Celtic language family tree and stem from the common Celtic language Brythonic that was spoken in England, Wales and southern Scotland prior to the Roman Conquest.
The other branches of Celtic languages grew from the colonies that settled further West and North, namely Irish, Scottish Gaelic and Manx.
Although they are completely different nowadays due to change and dialect over time I think it's amazing that these ancient languages are still spoken and indeed seem to be making a come back in some areas in this day and age.
Seems the Celtic spirit will survive!
