I thought you all might like some piccies of, firstly, my TBA (I apologise for the poor piture quality) and secondly, of Cornwall, the place where I am from. Thanks to Lowey, TheDog and others for, hopefully, showing me how to post photos to the forum! I hope this works! If there is a demand and not a , I'll post some more soon.

The island is called St Michael's Mount - apparently, the Archangel Michael landed there over a thousand years ago. D'ya like my house on top? You're right - there is a tidal causeway you can cross on foot but when the tide is out, you can catch an amphibious tractor. Here's another picture..... This one is the Crowns Section of Botallack Mine - a classic, abandoned Cornish tin mine. Nearly, two hundred years ago, the miners who were working 1/2 mile under the ocean, broke through causing the whole mine to flood. Incredibly, the breach was soon repaired - a task that I doubt very much could be repeated with such ease with today's technology.

Oui - Le Mont St Michel.
A couple of weeks ago, there was a particularly violent storm that hit the Cornish coast. Here are a few pictures taken the following day when the seas were still very rough.
The first three pictures are of a local fishing harbour entrance taken in fine weather. The following ones were taken shortly after the storm:

I trust they go down well!

I know Trebarwith very well. There's a great stretch of road that runs past there. It's known as the Atlantic Highway and runs from mid Cornwall right up to Bideford in Devon. The best thing is that its fast and full of twisties for about 60 miles

Well, Daniel, the building on top the St Michael's Mount is early medieval - it was built in the 10th century as a monastery.
The harbour wall sure looks old but, in our terms, it is a fairly new structure having been built in the 1800s.
The Botallack Tin Mine was abandoned in the 1890s.

welcome for any help I was able to give.
Very cool shots, I find the story of the mine absolutely amazing! The first shot of the island was really cool too. I would love to make it over there one day and ride around to see stuff like that.

Thanks guys for all the compliments. I reckon we'll have to have an international TBA/Speedie meet in Cornwall one day. The pleasure will be all mine. Plenty of good roads here that are well suited to our bikes with coastal scenery on all sides. It would be good, for once, to be part of a group of Triumphs as here in Cornwall most of the cruisers are Hardleys. Despite that....they are a very friendly bunch. Herewith a few more for the gallery: This one's the fishing port of St Ives. Gets jam-packed in summer! The Penwith Peninsula, near Land's End. A commemorative plaque to Cornish engineer, Richard Trevithick who invented the railway and the steam car in 1801, 25 years before the man officially given credit for the railways, George Stephenson. I put this one in for Ian who expressed surprise at the events at Botallack Mine since Richard trevithick was a pioneer of steam technology that was so important in the mining industry. Another old abandoned tin mine that worked extensively underneath the Atlantic Ocean. This one is 'Wheal Coates'

Thanks, Mark. I'll dig out some more as there has been such a favourable reaction. More to come tomorrow also First one - Sunset over Penzance. Second one - an old Arsenic stack at Botallack Mine. About 100,000 tons of arsenic were produced here at the turn of the 19th century. Some was used during WW1, the rest was dumped on the US Cotton Fields as an insecticide. Third picture - a thorny plant, known as Gorse, that abounds in these parts. The flowers have a strong smell of coconut - a bit like Hawaiian tropic. During the Spring, its great to be riding the TBA amongst (but not in!) the Gorse. As far as I know, it is the only plant in the UK that burns fiercely when green. It is represented by the yellow colour on all Cornish tartans.

Great pics, tho having been to England I never got to Land's End, sure looks like an awsom place... 1 thing I'm very familar with is gorse, it covers New Zealand wherever it can, a noxious weed to us... I suppose we can thank early immigrants for bring it with them...

The same is true in the Copper Belt of South Australia and the Victorian Goldfields where Gorse is a noxious weed. Just as in parts of NZ, where ever the Cornish miner dug a hole in the ground, he took a little bit of Cornwall with him. Conversely, when they returned home (and most of them didn't) they would bring a little piece of Australia, NZ, US, Mexico back with them. Sometimes, Cornwall can look a lot warmer than it really is on account of the large numbers of Cordaline (sp?) Australis that have sprung up everywhere!
Cornwall might be a beautiful place but across the border, England has much to offer also. In fact all of the nations of the UK are beautiful in their own right.

OK - as most of the Brits here will confirm, today was a fine day for riding. The sun was shining in Kernow (Cornwall) and I took the opportunity of riding out with some rice burning mates. Took a few piccies on the way: Sorry about the filthy rear wheal - I'm a great believer in chain wax's anti-rust properties. St Ives Harbour. The trusty steed parked alongside an ancient burial mound, known as Ballowall Barrow. This is a unique structure around 5,500 years old. Cape Cornwall. One of only two capes in Britain, the other being Cape Wrath in Scotland.

It was a good day or riding but I was uncomfortable in a classroom on a Guide Leaders training day..... I needed to go, but why do they always fall on the best riding day of the year so far....? And I agree with the properties of chain lube in what ever form!

Is it possible to ride a US bike (with US license plates and Bubs) around the UK or Europe? Or would a Yank have to get some special license plate? I also wonder if "The Law" would recognize the international Drivers License motorcycle endorsement?
If shipping wasn't too pricey, I'd love to have the opportunity to ride my bike around Europe. And seeing those great pics of Greece, I'd love to ride over there.
Come to think of it, I wish I could take my bike "down under" this summer (yeah, I know it'll be winter then).
So, can we ride a US tagged bike overseas?

Kind of....there was a member I think called Splodge from Plymouth but like a lot of the newbies they put in a couple of posts and vanished.
The day indoors was worth it - it means in the long term I will eventually be able to take the little gits...sorry...darlings away in the future.
And at the mo long distance still hurts too much. I'd have probably gone to Glastonbury as I need some more incense....and yes, I'm a hippy...

As far as the UK is concerned, I don't think there's any problem with displaying a foreign (US) number plate. We get loads of continental registered vehicles driving on our roads, so I can't imagine you would have any difficulty.
You would, most likely, need to show a country of origin (i.e. the international code for your country) in the bottom left corner of the plate. As long as you are insured, you should be ready to go.
Don't take this as gospel, Steve - there's probably somebody else here better qualified than me to comment.
Have you considered hiring a bike instead - it'll save you a shed load of shipping costs?

I'm about to wash down my painkillers with the last glass out of a bottle of wine....
Anything stronger I'd lose my job...the railway has a very strict drugs policy. Well a drop of scrumpy would be ok, just more than 12 hours before I start work. But then even the painkillers mean I can't do my job and I'm restricted to the office.....which I'm not enjoying.

Sorry to hear that, Gina I wish you well and a very very speedy recovery. I understand that the railway carries much responsibility and it must be immensley frustrating for you to know that there are restrictions upon you in so far as your job is concerned. Good luck gal! Sowena dhys!

Thanks but nah...those restrictions are there as much there to protect me as the muppets we carry. after all I'm responsible for all their lives if/when something goes wrong. I can understand it completely, and my back wouldn't cope with a bad set of points. But sitting in the office beats the 106 days of sitting at home. At least there's someone to talk to.

I don't know if any local dealers have Triumph Americas for hire. Besides, it wouldn't be my bike. I couldn't really talk about the "for hire" bike or point out the things I modified, my riding "scars", problems I ran into, etc...
True, it would save me a quite a few US dollars (and half as many quid ) in shipping costs, but I would love to take MY bike out to explore the UK (and Europe).
Ehh...it's all wishful thinking for now. We have some great scenery around the Pacific Northwest that I am sure y'all would love to explore on your bikes as well. I am going to have to make a point of visiting Cornwall the next time I get a chance to go to the UK. I was hoping to get over in April (on business) and catch Rick Wakeman as he does his little tour around the UK, but that is not going to happen.
Still thanks for the great pics!
